지적장애아동의 어머니가 지각한 양육스트레스와 우울에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 지적장애아를 둔 어머니가 자녀를 양육하면서 나타나는 양육 스트레스와 우울의 정도를 알아보고자 하였다. G광역시에 거주하고 있으면 지적장애 자녀를 둔 어머니 80명을 대상으로 일반적인 항목과 부모의 양육태도스트레스 척도(PSI/SF), 한국판 Beck 우울척도(KDS)의 설문지를 배부하였고, SPSS 18.0을 사용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과로는 첫째, 지적장애 자녀를 둔 어머니가 자녀를 양육하면서 나타나는 스트레스는 자녀의 연령이 높을수록, 자녀의 장애 등급이 높을수록, 어머니가 지각하는 자녀의 장애 수준이 심할수록 양육스트레스 또한 높게 나타났다. 어머니가 자녀를 양육하면서 다른 사람의 도움을 받지 않는 경우에 있어서도 양육스트레스가 높은 수준을 나타내었다. 둘째, 지적장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 우울에서는 자녀의 연령에 있어서 4~6세 아동을 둔 어머니의 우울이 높게 나타났으며, 양육 스트레스와는 반대로 자녀의 연령이 어릴수록 우울이 높게 나타났다. 어머니가 지각하는 자녀의 장애 정도가 심할수록 우울 또한 높게 나타났으며, 어머니의 연령이 낮을수록 우울이 높은 경향을 보였다. 자녀를 양육 시 도움을 받지 않는 어머니의 우울이 높게 나타났다. 본 연구는 지적장애아동을 양육하면서 나타나는 어머니의 양육스트레스와 우울의 정도를 알아보는데 의의가 있으며, 향후 장애아동의 양육프로그램의 개발과 부모교육을 위한 프로그램의 개발의 기초자료로 사용될 수 있다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

영문 초록

This study was to examine the degree of depression and parenting stress appeared among mothers parenting their children with intellectual disabilities. Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (PSI/SF), Korean Beck Depression Scale (KDS) and other general scales were distributed to 80 mothers of children with intellectual disabilities living in G metropolitan city, which results were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, the higher their children’s age and the degree of children’s disabilities was and the severe the mothers perceive about their children’s disabilities level, the higher the stress of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities was. Second, the depression in mothers of children with intellectual disabilities was higher in mothers of children between 4 and 6 years old and in contrast to parenting stress, the lower their children’s age was, the higher the mothers’ depression was. The severer the children’s disabilities were perceived by the mother, the higher mother’s depression was and the lower the age of mothers was, the higher their depression was. When raising children without anyone’s help, the mothers’ depression was also high. This study has significance in that it examined the parenting stress and degree of depression appeared among mothers parenting their children with intellectual disabilities and it can be used as basic data for developing future disabled child parenting program and parent education program.
