대학탁구선수의 진로선택과 대학탁구의 경쟁력강화를 위한 질적 연구 - 2021청두 세계대학경기대회에 참여한 대학대표팀을 대상으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 탁구종목을 중심으로 국제적 수준에서 경쟁력 저하의 원인을 파악하고, 현재 대학탁구의 문제점과 원인, 경쟁력을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2021청두 세계대학경기대회에 국가대표자격으로 참석한 대표선수10명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여, 그들의 대학입학과정과 대학에서의 선수활동, 세계대학경기대회에서의 경험에 대해 심층 면접을 진행하였다. 주요 결과는다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 프로로의 진출을 희망했지만, 기량미달 등의 사유로 대학에 진학할 수밖에 없었다. 둘째, 대학 선수로 활동하며 소외된 감정을 느꼈으며, 환경적 요인에 의해 선수로서의 정체성이 희미해졌다. 셋째, 차선책으로 대학에 진학했지만 대학 생활을 통해 선수로서의 기량을 발전시켰다. 넷째, 대학탁구의 경쟁력을 강화와 독자적 시스템 구축으로 진로진출 시 대학선택을 배제하는 현재의 기형적 구조를 타개할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the causes of the decline in competitiveness at the international level, the current problems of university table tennis, and ways to improve competitiveness, focusing on the sport of table tennis. To this end, 10 representative players who attended the 2021 Chengdu World University Games were selected as participants in the study and were interviewed about their experiences at their universities and competitions. Key findings include First, the participants had hoped to go pro, but were forced to go to college due to inadequate skills. Second, they felt marginalized as college athletes, and their identity as athletes was blurred by environmental factors. Third, they went to college as the next best option, but they developed their skills as players through college life. Fourth, it is necessary to strengthen the competitiveness of college table tennis and establish an independent system to include college as a career option.
