국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 역사를 구조화하는 한 방법으로 이상형 이론을 소개하고, 구조화를 넘어서 개별 사건의 탐구로 이어지는 이상형 이론의 역사교육적 가능성을 살펴보려는 것이다. 방법 개념, 일반화, 총괄 등 역사를 구조적으로 설명하고 이해하는 방법을 고찰하고, 이상형 이론을 소개한다. 이상형은 개별 사건의 유형에서 가장 두드러진 특징으로 과거를 분명하게 구성한 이미지이다. 과거를 구조화했다는 점에서 개념, 일반화, 총괄과 비슷하지만, 이상형은 거기에 머무르지 않고, 구조화한 과거를 바탕으로 특정한 개별 사건을 탐구하기 시작한다. 이것은 이상형의 독특한 특성으로서 역사교육에 활용할 만하다. 따라서 개념, 일반화, 총괄과는 다른 이상형의 역사교육적 가능성을 도출할 것이다. 결과 이상형은 역사를 구조화하는 방법이다. 그러나 이상형은 구조화에 그치지 않고 개별 사건 자체를 탐구하는 것으로 이어진다. 개별 사건의 특성을 탐구하는 것은 역사교과의 정체성과도 관련되어 중요하다. 따라서 역사교육은 과거를 일반화하는 것에 만족할 것이 아니라 개별 사건을 탐구하는 데까지 나아가야 한다. 그러기 위해서는 기준이 되는 틀이 필요한데, 이상형이 그 틀의 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. 결론 이상형은 여러 개별 사건의 공통점 가운데 가장 정도가 큰 것만을 모아 도출했다는 점에서 일종의 구조화이다. 그러나 구조화에서 멈추지 않고 특정 사건에 대한 탐구로 학습이 이어진다는 점이 특징이다. 구조화한 이상형 개념이 특정한 과거 사건을 탐구하는 기준틀이 되며, 이 틀을 사건의 유형과 비교함으로써 탐구학습이 이루어진다. 이로써 학습자가 중심이 되는 수업 효과와 역사적 사고력 향상을 기대할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study introduces the ‘Ideal Typus’ theory as a method of structuring history, and examines the historical educational potential of ‘Ideal Typus’ theory that goes beyond structuring and leads to the exploration of individual events. Methods This course examines how to structurally explain and understand history, such as concepts, generalizations, and colligations, and introduces ‘Ideal Typus’ theory. The ‘Ideal Typus’ thoery is an image that clearly constitutes the past as the most prominent characteristic of the type of individual event. It is similar to concepts, generalizations, and colligations in that the past is structured, but the ‘Ideal Typus’ theory does not stop there and begins to explore specific individual events based on the structured past. This is a unique characteristic of the ‘Ideal Typus’, and it is worthy of use in history education. Therefore, we will derive the possibilities of the ‘Ideal Typus’ other than the concepts, generalizations, and colligations. Results The ‘Ideal Typus’ theory is a way to structure history. However, the ‘Ideal Typus’ theory does not stop at structuring, but leads to exploring the individual events themselves. Exploring the characteristics of individual events is important in relation to the identity of the history subject. Therefore, history education should not be content with generalizing the past, but go on to explore individual events. To do this, a standard framework is needed, and the ‘Ideal Typus’ theory can serve as that framework. Conclusions The ‘Ideal Typus’ is a kind of structuring in that it is derived by collecting only the highest degree of commonalities among several individual events. However, it does not stop here, and it is characterized by the fact that learning continues with the exploration of individual events. The structured ‘Ideal Typus’ concepts becomes a frame of reference for exploring specific past events, and inquiry learning is accomplished by comparing this frame with the type of event. In this way, it can be expected that the learner-centered class effect and historical thinking ability will be improved.
