국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 초등학교 5학년부터 중학교 1학년 아동의 미디어 사용 시간과 중독 경향의 학년별, 성별 변화 양상을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구방법: 한국아동패널 자료 12차(2019년)부터 14차(2021년)까지의 데이터를 사용하였는데 미디어 사용 시간과 미디어 중독 경향 측정 문항들을 분석하였다. SPSSWIN v.23.0을사용하여 기술통계, 반복측정 분산분석을 실행하였다. 연구결과: 초등학교 5학년부터 중학교 1학년까지 미디어 사용 시간은 매년 증가하였는데 남,여 모두 중학교 1학년 때 이전 학년에 비해 2배 이상 증가하였다. 초등학교 5학년부터 중학교 1학년까지 미디어 중독 경향은 매년 증가하였고, 이러한 중독 경향의 증가 정도는 남학생에게서 더 크게 나타났다. 연구결론: 미디어 사용 시간과 중독 경향은 중학교 1학년 시기에 급격하게 증가한다는 점과 특히 남아의 중독 경향의 증가에 경각심을 가져야 한다. 그러므로 이 시기에 미디어사용에 대한 전문적인 교육과 관리가 요구된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study examined changes in the amount of media time uses and addictiontendencies by sex and grades from the fifth grade in elementary school to firstgrade in middle school. Methods: Data from the 12th (2019) to 14th (2021) waves of the Panel Study on KoreanChildren(PSKC) were used. The items of the media time uses and addictiontendencies were analyzed using SPSSwin v.23.0. Results: The amount of time spent in media increased each year from the fifth grade inelementary school to the first grade in middle school. There were no genderdifferences in the increases. The trend of media addiction increased every year inthis period. Particularly, the increases in the media addiction were much higher forboys than for girls. Conclusion: The time spent in media and the trend of media addiction increased during the firstyear of middle school rapidly. Especially, boys’increases in the trend of mediaaddiction were serious than girls’. This finding suggests that professional educationand maintenance were required in this period.
