간호교육에서 문제중심학습(PBL) 전략이 임상간호사의 비판적 사고능력, 의사소통 능력, 임상 의사결정 능력에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 간호교육에서 문제중심학습(PBL) 전략이 임상간호사의 비판적 사고능력과 의사소통능력, 임상 의사결정 능력에 미치는 효과를 탐색하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 부산 소재 A 대학의 간호학 학위과정 중 문제중심학습(PBL) 교육을 수강하는 임상간호사 24명과, 간호학 학위과정 중 이론식 강의 수업을 수강 중인 26명을 대상으로 2019년 10월 1일부터 11월 26일까지 7주간 실험을 진행하였다. 간호교육에서 문제중심학습(PBL)전략이 임상간호사의 비판적 사고능력과 의사소통능력, 임상 의사결정 능력에 유의미한 차이가 있는지 검증하기 위해, 비동등성 대조군 전후 실험설계를 시행하였다. 실험 전·후로 두 집단의 비판적 사고능력과 의사소통능력, 임상 의사결정 능력 검사를 실시하고, 집단 간 효과성 차이를 검증하기 위해서, 다변량공분산분석(MANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 임상간호사의 비판적 사고능력은 6개의 하위요인 중 ‘지적 공정성’에서 문제중심학습(PBL) 전략이 유의미한 효과를 나타내는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 임상간호사의 의사소통능력은 집단 간 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 임상간호사의 임상 의사결정 능력은 4개 하위요인 중 ‘결론에 대한 평가와 재평가’ ‘가치와 목표에 대한 검토’, ‘대안과 선택 조사’의 3가지 하위요인에서, 문제중심학습(PBL) 전략이 유의미한 효과를 나타내는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 종합해 볼 때, 임상간호사의 실무와 교육을 연계할 수 있는 문제중심학습 전략의 장기적인 교육프로그램 개발 및 운영이 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of a problem-based learning (PBL) strategies on nurse practitioners critical thinking skills, communicative competence, and clinical decision-making skills in nursing education. For this purpose, a seven-week experiment was conducted from October 1 to November 26, 2019 in 24 nurse practitioners taking a PBL course and 26 taking a traditional theory-based lecture in nursing at A University in Busan. A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest experimental design was used to determine if nurse practitioners critical thinking skills, communicative competence, and clinical decision-making skills depended significantly on a PBL strategy in nursing education. Before and after the experiment, both groups were tested for the critical thinking skills, communicative competence, and clinical decision-making skills and MANCOVA was carried out to determine the inter-group differences in the effectiveness of the experiment. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, the PBL strategies had meaningful effects on intellectual justice among the six sub-factors for the critical thinking skills of the nurse practitioners. Second, there was no meaningful inter-group difference in the communicative competence of the nurse practitioners. Third, the PBL strategies had meaningful effects on three— evaluation and reevaluation of conclusion, review of values and goals, and investigation of alternatives and choices —out of four sub-factors for the clinical decision-making skills of the nurse practitioners. On the basis of these results, it is necessary to develop and run a long-term education program for a PBL strategies that can connect practice with education for nurse practitioners.
