중ㆍ고등학교 전환기 청소년의 학업성취도, 학교적응, 삶의 만족도 간 종단적 인과관계 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 중ㆍ고등학교 전환기에 있는, 중학교 3학년 학생들의 학업성취도, 학교적응, 삶의 만족도가 시간의 흐름에 따라 어떤 양상을 보이는지, 변인 간 인과관계는 어떠한지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동ㆍ청소년 패널조사 2010(KCYP 2010)의 중학교 1학년 패널 자료의 3차년도(2012)부터 6차년도(2015)까지의 데이터를 자기회귀교차지연모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 이 연구의 네 가지 연구 결과를 바탕으로 두 가지 결론과 교육적 시사점을 도출하였다. 첫째, 청소년의 학업성취도, 학교적응, 삶의 만족도는 시간이 지나도 안정적이었으며 각 변인은 이전 시점과 이후 시점에 영향을 주고받는다. 따라서 특정 시점에 문제가 생겼을 때 즉각적으로 적극 개입하는 것이 필요하다. 둘째, 청소년의 학업성취도와 학교적응 간에는 상호적인 종단적 인과관계가 있었고, 이전 시점의 학업성취도는 이후 시점의 삶의 만족도에 유의한 정적 영향을 주었으며, 이전 시점 삶의 만족도는 다음 시점 학교적응에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 이전 시기의 학교적응이 이후 시기의 학업성취도와 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변인이라고 볼 수 있게 한다. 따라서 학생들의 학교적응을 돕기 위한 개별 학교 차원의 교육 및 상담적 제도 마련에 대한 노력이 더욱 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the trends of academic achievement, school adaptation, and life satisfaction of Korean middle school students in the third grade, and to analyze the longitudinal causal relationship among variables. The longitudinal data were obtained from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2010 (KCYP 2010) covering a set of students from the third grade in middle school through to the third grade in high school, and autoregressive cross-lagged modeling was adapted. The results demonstrated that, first, the autoregressive coefficients of academic achievement, school adaptation, and life satisfaction were all statistically significant. This means that the three variables were stable despite the passage of time. Second, there was a two-way causal relationship between academic achievement and school adaptation. Academic achievement had a significant positive effect on subsequent school adaptation, and school adaptation had a significant positive effect on subsequent academic achievement. Third, there was only one causal relationship between academic achievement and life satisfaction. Academic achievement had a significant positive effect on subsequent life satisfaction, but life satisfaction did not have a significant effect on subsequent academic achievement. Fourth, there was only a one-way causal relationship between adolescents school adaptation and life satisfaction. School adaptation did not have a significant effect on subsequent life satisfaction, but life satisfaction had a significant positive effect on subsequent school adaptation.
