국문 초록

본 연구에서는 학습자 중심 교육의 실현을 위한 초등교사 역할의 의미를 살펴보았다. 초등교육은 이론적 측면에서 교과(학문)적 가치 전수를 강조하지만, 제도적 측면에서 아동의 사회화 과정이라는 현실적 목적을 가진다. 이때 사회화 과정으로서 학급에서 초등교사와 초등학생(아동)의 관계맺음 인식은 초등교사 역할 규정의 핵심이 된다. 그에 따라 행정적 관점에서 구분되어 오던 교과지도, 생활지도, 학급경영 직무의 의미는 새롭게 변화될 가능성을 갖는다. 기존처럼 교과를 중시하는 관점에서 초등교사의 생활지도 및 학급경영 역할은 효율적인 교과지도를 위한 수단적 의미(훈육과 교실관리)로 축소된다. 그러나 제도적 관점에서 아동의 사회화 과정을 최우선으로 추구할 때, 초등교사는 교육과정 개념을 폭넓게 해석하여, 학급을 중심으로 초등교사와 초등학생(아동)의 관계맺음 그 자체를 교육내용으로 인식하며, 학급경영 역할을 중심으로 교과지도와 생활지도의 의미를 상호적으로 규정한다. 즉 학습자 중심 교육 실현을 위한 초등교사의 역할 인식은 학급 담임으로서 학급경영의 의미를 강조할 때 가능해진다.

영문 초록

This study reviewed the meaning of the role of elementary school teachers for ‘learner-centered education.’ While elementary education emphasizes the importance of the transfer of the academic values in theoretical perspective, it underlines the social process of children as the realistic goal in the institutional one. Then, the relationship between elementary school teachers and students (children) in the classroom is a core quality in elementary education for ‘learner-centered education.’ Consequently, the meanings of teaching subjects, the guidance and the classroom management that have been divided from the administrative point of view are likely to be changed anew. From an institutional standpoint, elementary school teachers who pursue the social process of children generally interpret widely the concept of the curriculum, and consider the relationship between elementary school teachers and students (children) as the educational content per se. At this time, the meaning of the elementary school teachers classroom management role includes both teaching subjects and the guidance mutually being defined. In other words, it is possible to achieve the meaning of the learner-centered education in the elementary education, when the role perception of the elementary school teacher stress the meaning of classroom management as the homeroom teacher.
