영어학습동기 중재연구 동향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 2008년부터 2017년까지의 최근 10년간의 영어학습동기연구 중 중재연구를 중심으로 검토하여 그 동향을 살펴보았다. 2018년 1월 5일부터 1월 15일 까지 RISS를 사용하여 1차 관련 주제어 검색 후, 2018년 2월 1일부터 2월 25일까지 2차 검색하여 연구 목적에 부합되는 분석 대상 논문을 선정하였다. 검색된 대상 영어학습동기중재 연구 수는 총 21편이며, 선정된 논문은 연도별, 연구방법별, 연구대상별, 영어학습동기 이론별, 중재방법과 내용별, 중재의 종속변인별, 중재 효과측정 도구별 로 분석하였다. 검토 기준에 따라 분석한 결과, 전체적인 영어학습동기 중재연구는 약간의 증가 경향을 보였으나, 영어학습동기 중재연구가 좀 더 활발해야 하는 필요성이 대두되었다. 높은 빈도를 보인 연구 대상은 대학생이었으며, 연구방법은 양적 연구방법 중 실험연구, 실험 설계로는 비교집단 사전사후설계로 나타났다. 영어학습동기 중재의 기반이 된 주요 영어학습동기이론은 제2언어학 분야 이론인 Doumyei의 제 2언어 동기적 자아체계(L2 Motivational Self-system)로 나타났다. 영어학습동기 중재 내용의 경향은 과제중심교수법과 협동학습으로 나타났으며, 중재의 종속변인으로 영어학습동기와 함께 영어성취도와 자신감이 함께 측정되는 경향을 보였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 하여 추후 영어학습동기중재 연구에 대한 과제와 방향성에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

21 Korean journal articles on motivation intervention studies of learning English were analyzed during the 2008-2017 publication period. The subject articles for analysis were retrieved first by the key words search through RISS from Jan. 5 to Jan. 30, 2018. The second search from the first search result for subject articles fit for the current study aim was conducted from Feb. 2 to Feb. 25, 2018. The study revealed that English learning motivation intervention studies are quite recently on the minor increase, but it is discussed that more motivation intervention studies should be encouraged for its contribution to and its own benefit for the improvement of L2 learning and teaching academia The most frequent intervention participants were university students and quantitative, non equivalent comparison pre-post test design was the most popular research design. The major English language learning motivation theory based was Dörnyei s L2 Motivational Self-system. The task-based instruction with cooperative leaning was mostly used methods for the motivation intervention. The most frequently measured dependent variables other than the English language learning motivation were the level of English language learning achievement and learner confidence. The implication and possible direction for the future English learning motivation intervention studies were discussed.
