중·고등학교 학생선수의 최저학력제 운영에 관한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

이 연구는 중·고등학교 학생선수1)의 최저학력제 운영에 관한 내러티브 탐구로, 최저학력제에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하고, 운영 방향을 탐색하는 것이다. 이 연구의 주된 자료 수집은 G도의 학생선수 6명, 지도자 6명, 지도교사 6명과의 심층 면담을 통해 이루어졌고, 보조 자료는 각종 문서를 활용하였다. 연구 기간은 2017년 4월부터 2018년 3월까지 진행되었다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 최저학력제 운영 과정에서 문제점이 드러났는데, ‘취지는 좋지만 선수 육성에는 걸림돌’, ‘최저학력 미달 기준이 불합리’, ‘e-school 그 실효성이 의문’으로 나타났다. 둘째, 최저학력제가 제대로 정착하기 위한 대책을 이야기하였는데, ‘인식 전환이 필요’, ‘대회출전 구제 방안이 필요’, ‘대학 입학제도 개선이 필요’한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 최저학력제 운영 과정에서 문제점 이 드러나고, 대책 마련이 필요하지만 최저학력제는 체육특기자 제도의 변곡점이 되었는데, ‘학생선수도 공부가 중요’, ‘학생선수가 수업에 참여’, ‘학생선수가 공부를 시작’하게 되는 변화를 맞이하고 있었다. 이와 같은 결과는 최저학력제가 학생선수에게 운동과 공부를 병행하도록 북돋우고 있고, 나아가 체육특기자 제도가 긍정적인 방향으로 변화될 수 있다는 가능성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study is intended for narrative inquiry on minimum academic achievement policy for middle and high school student athletes to provide basic data for the policy and seek the direction for its operation. The study data were collected by in-depth interviews with six student athletes, six coaches and six advising teachers in G province and supplementary ones were based on a variety of documents. The study spanned from April 2017 to March 2018. First, the result showed some issues incurred during the operation of the policy, implying perceptions such as ‘barrier to training student training despite of its good intent’, ‘irrationality in the criteria to define minimum academic achievement’ and ‘doubt in the effectiveness of e-school’. Second, the study also discussed possible measures to facilitate the policy, such as ‘need for changes to existing perceptions’, ‘need for remedial actions to allow student athletes to participate in sport events’ and ‘need for improvement in existing university admission systems’. Third, although some issues were identified during the operation of the policy and therefore measures are required, the policy has served as a point of inflection for the existing student athlete admission system, leading to changes such as ‘student athletes recognizing the importance of studying’, ‘participation in the class by student athletes’ and ‘student athletes beginning to study’. All these consequences imply that the policy has encouraged student athletes to be involved in both study and their specialty, and furthermore, the student athlete admission system would be changed toward a desirable direction.
