국문 초록

이 연구는 서사를 의사소통 행위로 보고 화자의 서술과 그것이 대상으로 하는 수화자(narratee)에 주목하여 2인칭을 초점 대상으로 하는 소설의 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. 연구에서 살피는 ‘2인칭 소설’은 주요인물이 ‘너/당신’으로 불리면서 서사의 대상이 되는 소설로 서술자가 ‘너’에 대한 이야기를 직·간접적으로 ‘너’에게 말하는 형식을 띤다. 독자는 드러난 수화자의 존재를 인식하고 소설을 읽는 과정을 소통행위 에의 참여로 받아들여 수사적 읽기를 실천할 수 있다. 본고에서 다루는 임철우의 「동행」은 정치적인 이유로 지명수배자가 된 친구와 그의 고향까지 함께하는 동행 기를 다룬 작품이다. 소설에서 2인칭 ‘너’의 적극적인 활용은 ‘나’와의 관계를 역동적 으로 형상화하면서 역사적 기억의 소환과 그에 따른 트라우마, 그리고 죄의식의 문제와 맞물려 주제 구현에 효과적으로 작용한다. ‘너’를 초점 대상으로 삼는 2인칭 서술을 통해 ‘나’의 죄의식을 고백하는 형식을 취함으로써 독자로 하여금 윤리적 책임 의식을 고민하고 성찰의 계기를 마련하게 한다. 과거의 기억과 현재의 시간이 교차 되고 공존하는 구조, ‘너’의 등장과 떠남으로 인한 만남과 헤어짐의 서사 또한 화자와 청자가 드러나는 2인칭 소설의 소통구도와 결합하여 독자의 소설 읽기에 흥미를 더한다.

영문 초록

This paper considers narrative as communication activity and focuses on narration of narrators and being of narratee and tries to analyze the characteristics of second person narrative. The second person narrative is a novel whose main character is called you and is subject of the narrative so it has a form in which a narrator directly or indirectly talks to ‘you’ about a story of ‘you’. The reader of novel recognizes the presence of the revealed narratee and accepts the process of reading the novel as participation in communication activities, and can practice rhetorical reading. Lim Chul-woo s text Accompanying is a novel that deals with a friend who became a wanted person for political reasons and a companion to his hometown. In the novel, the active use of the second person you dynamically shapes the relationship with me and it works effectively to expression of theme in conjunction with the recall of historical memory, the trauma caused by it, and the problem of guilty conscience. This novel takes the form of confessing the guilty consciousness of I through a second person narrative that focuses on you . Therefore, the reader can think about the ethical responsibility consciousness and prepare the moment of reflection. The structure in which past memory and present time are crossed and coexist, the narration of meeting and departure due to the appearance and departure of you is combined with the communication structure of the second person narrative in which the narrator and the narratee are revealed, thereby adding interest to the reader s reading.
