고등학생들의 인공지능(AI)에 대한 개념인식과 정서 구조 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 국내 고등학생들의 인공지능에 대한 인식에 대해 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 첫째, 언어네트워크 분석(SNA)을 통해 학생들의 인공지능에 대한개념 이해와 정서의 구조를 탐색했다. 둘째, 학생들의 인공지능에 대한 위험 인식과 관련된 변인들의 구조적 관계를 상관관계 분석과 경로 분석을 통해 검증하였다. 이연구에는 총 135명의 2학년 남자 고등학생들이 참여하였고, 학생들의 인공지능에 대한 개념 이해와 정서를 각각 묻는 서술형 2 개의 문항과 인공지능의 위험인식과 관 련된 ‘빠른 발전성 인식’, ‘일자리 위험인식’, ‘윤리적 위험인식’, ‘통제 필요성 인식’,‘두려움’ 5개의 변인을 묻는 총 13개의 문항을 바탕으로 자료가 수집되었다. 수집된 서술형 자료에 대한 언어네트워크 분석을 수행한 결과, 먼저 개념 이해 측면에서 학 생들은 인공지능을 “인간”을 중심으로 인식하며, 인간과 유사한 특성을 지닌 대상으로 이해하고 있었다. 또한 인공지능을 떠올릴 때 기술의 발달과 더불어 현재 인공지능이 인간을 대체 혹은 지배할 것이라는 두려움과 같은 부정적 태도가 존재함을 확 인하였다. 둘째, 인공지능에 대한 위험인식과 관련된 5개의 변인에 대한 경로 분석을 수행한 결과, 윤리적 위험인식은 관련성과 발전성 인식이 두려움으로 이어지는데 유의미한 매개자 역할을 함을 확인하였다. 따라서 올바른 위험인식이 인공지능에 대한막연한 두려움을 감소시키는데 효과적인 교육적 대안일 것임을 논의하였다. 이러한연구 결과는 인공지능을 소재로 한 다양한 교육자료 개발의 기초자료로 유용한 정보로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The overarching purpose of this study was to understand Korean high school students perception of artificial intelligence (AI). For this, first, we explored the structural pattern of concept understanding and emotion through semantic network analysis (SNA). Second, correlation analysis and path analysis based on structural equation modeling were conducted for understanding of relationship among variables related with risk perception of AI. 134 male second grader high school students participated in this study. The result of semantic network analysis showed that students perceived AI with focusing on ‘human’, and understand AI as “substitute for humans’ work”, “system which can make judgement for themselves”, “computer or robot”, “automatic machine”, “AlphaGo”, “various algorithm”, and “electronic devices”. In addition, our finding showed that when students think about AI, they feel “fear of threatening human status”, “expectation for convenience”, and “development of technology”. Especially we found that some students have negative attitude with the fear that it might replace or dominate human being. The result of path analysis showed that perception on rapid development of AI have positive effect on risk perception on job reduction and ethical issue caused by AI. And the perception of risk for job reduction problems have positive effect on the perception of necessity of control on AI, and the perception of risk for ethical issue of AI have also positive effect on fear of AI significantly. However, there were no significant relationships between risk perception for job reduction and fear, between risk perception for ethical issue and necessity of control on AI. These results can be used as useful information for development of various educational materials about artificial intelligence.
