국문 초록

본 연구는 총 4개월간의 현장관찰과 참여자 심층면담을 통해 영유아교육기관에서 부모와 교사가 어떻게 관계를 형성하고 그 과정에서 어떤 어려움을 왜 경험하게 되는지 부모와 교사 모두의 관점에서 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 부모와 교사들은: 1)협력을 위한 신뢰를 쌓기 위해 노력하고는 있으나, 어떤 노력이 필요한지에 대한 이견과 서로 다른 기대로 인해 오히려 신뢰를 잃게 되거나 갈등이 고조되는 등 어려움을 겪고있었고; 2)서로 터놓고 의논하는 양방향의 진정성 있는 소통과 참여에 한계가 있었 으며; 3)이론과 현실의 간극 그리고; 4)부모-교사관계의 독특하고 복잡한 특성으로 인해 많은 어려움과 혼란을 경험하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 서로 간의 이해부족, 경험과 준비부족, 해소되기 어려운 끊임없는 걱정과 피해의식, 그리고 표현 능력부족 등이 이러한 어려움을 야기하고 증폭시키는 원인으로 드러났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로, 부모와 교사의 관계가 단순한 정보제공과 참석의 차원을 넘어 실질적인 협력의 관계로 나아가기 위해 이루어져야 할 변화와 노력을 크게 네 가지 차원에서 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Through observations and individual interviews, this study examined how parents and teachers establish their relationships in early childhood educational settings. The findings showed that the parents and teachers: 1)constantly made an effort to establish trust in their own way, but due to the different ideas and expectations on how to build trust, they experienced difficulties such as the rising tensions between the two parties; 2)experienced limited opportunities for mutual and meaningful communication and interaction; and were confused due to 3)the gap between theory and reality and 4)the complexity and uniqueness of the parent-teacher relationship. Particularly, the lack of mutual understanding, the insufficiency in field experience and preparation, and the persistent cautiousness often resulted in intensified conflicts and distrust between the parents and the teachers. Therefore, we should not simply ask the parents and the teachers to fulfill all responsibilities and ask them for cooperative relationships. More fundamental and structural changes and efforts should be made for improvements in this area.
