손자녀를 양육하는 조부모의 우울에 관한 연구:

국문 초록

본 연구는 손자녀 양육이 참여하는 조부모의 우울에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를알아보기 위해 손자녀를 돌보는 조부모 176명을 대상으로 ABC-X 모델을 적용하여조사되었다. 수집된 자료의 조사 기간은 2013년 1월부터 12월까지였으며, 기술 통계 와 t 검증, Pearson의 상관관계, 위계적 중다회귀 분석, Bootstrapping 검증을 통해 분석되었다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 조부모의 우울은 양육 조부모 집단과 비양육 조부모 집단간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었고 비교적 낮은 수준이었다. 둘째, 손자녀 를 양육하는 조부모가 가진 자원인 인구사회학적 변수와 양육 상황 변수들이 우울에미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 신체 건강 상태와 월 가계 총 소득이 유의한 변수였다. 환언하면, 신체적으로 건강하지 않을수록, 월 가계 소득이 적을수록, 우울감이 높았다. 셋째, 상기한 자원 변수들 중 양육 갈등 지각에 영향을 미치는 것은 월 가계 총소득, 주당 돌봄 시간과 근로 활동 중단 및 감축 여부였다. 월 가계 소득이 적을수록, 주당 손자녀를 돌보는 시간이 길수록, 양육으로 인해 근로 활동을 중단하거나 감축하였을 경우, 조부모가 양육 갈등을 많이 느낀다고 할 수 있다. 넷째, 양육 갈등 지각의 매개 효과를 분석하였더니, 우울에 부정적인 매개 효과가 나타났다. 즉, 돌보는 시간이 길수록, 양육 갈등을 증가시키고, 이는 결과적으로 우울도 증가시킴이 발견되었다. 본 연구 결과를 근거로, 손자녀 양육 활동의 효과와 이를 활용한 삶의 질 고양 방안 등에 대해 이론적, 실천적 및 정책적 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study was to examine the differences of depression between a grandchild caregiver and a non-caregiver, investigating variables which account for grandchild caregivers’ depression, verifying the mediating effects that associate variables to grandparents’depression. Quantitative data from the Korean Retirement and Income Study was utilized. Research period was in 2013. The sample included 176 grandparents, and the data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t test, Pearson’s correlation, hierarchical multiple regression, and Bootstrapping test. The main results of this quantitative study were as follows: Firstly, there was not group difference of depression between grandchild caregivers and non-caregivers. And generally, the level of grandchild caregivers’ depression was low. Secondly, the variables that explained depression of grandchild caregivers were physical health and family income. Grandchild caregivers reported higher levels of depression, when they were unhealthier and had the less amount of money. Thirdly, family income, caregiving hours per week, and quitting the job had a significant positive effect on caregiving conflict. Finally, a mediating significant effect on grandparents’ depression was caregiving hours per week.
