저성취 학생의 성격강점 특성 및 유형과 학교생활적응에 미치는 상대적 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 고성취 학생과 비교를 통해 저성취 학생의 성격강점 특성을 분석하였으며, 저성취 집단 내 성격강점에 따라 하위 유형의 존재 여부를 확인하였다. 더불어 성격강점이 학교생활적응에 미치는 상대적 영향을 주요 변인들(학습활동, 또래관계, 교사·학생 관계, 성적, 자기조절학습)과 비교하여 분석하였다. 이를 위해 중학생 460명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 저성취 학생이 226명, 고성취 학생이 234명이다. 성격강점은 6개 영역, 24개 구성요소로 구분하였다. 자료분석은 연구문제에 따라t-검정, 이분형 로지스틱 회귀분석, 계층적 군집분석, 중다회귀분석을 사용하였다. 주요 연구결과를 보면, 6개 영역 중 2개 영역(지성, 절제)과 24개 구성요소 중 10개에서 고성취 학생과 저성취 학생 간에 차이를 보였다. 모두 저성취 학생의 평균이 낮았다. 한편, 진실성, 겸손, 감사, 영성은 통계적으로 유의미하지는 않았지만 저성취 학생의 평균이 오히려 높았다. 성격강점 구성요소를 기반으로 저성취 학생을 유형화하면 약 8%에 해당하는 보다 긍정적 성격강점을 지닌 집단이 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 성격강점이 학교생활적응에 미치는 상대적 영향을 분석할 결과, 저성취 학생은 또래관계의 영향력이 컸고, 성격강점 중 신중함이 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는것으로 나타났다. 반면, 고성취 학생에게서는 학습활동의 영향력이 정적으로 가장 크게 나타났으며, 성격강점에서는 유머감각과 신중함이 정적으로, 학구열은 부적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다

영문 초록

This study was implemented to analyze the low-achieving students’ characteristics of character strengths. In addition, it analyzed the relative effects of character strengths on school adjustment. A total of 460 middle school students participated in several questionnaires. 226 students were low-achieving students and 234 were high- achieving students. The character strength was consisted of 6 areas and 24 sub-factors. To analyze the relative effects of character strengths, learning activities, peer relations, teacher-student relations, achievement level, and self-regulated learning strategy level were employed as criteria for comparison. According to the results, 2 of 6 areas(wisdom and temperance) and 10 of 24 sub-factors were different between two groups. The means of high-achieving students were higher than those of low-achieving students. On the other hand, honesty, humility, gratitude, and spirituality were higher in low-achieving students although they were not statically significant. There were sub-groups in low-achieving students about 8% showing more positive character strengths. According to the results of relative effect analysis, prudence and peer relation were positively significant in low-achieving students. On the other hand, learning activities, humor, and prudence were positively significant but the love of learning was negatively significant
