국문 초록

한자 교육은 그 필요성에 비해 교육 성과가 매우 미비한 것으로 평가된다. 이 연구에서는 이상과 현실 사이에 괴리가 큰 한자 교육에 대해 그 필요성을 정리해보고, 한자 교육을 현실적으로 어렵게 하는 요인이 무엇인지 파악해 본 다음 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 대안적인 교수학습법을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 통하여 한자 교육의 필요성을 확실히 인식하고 한자 교육의 문제점을 파악하며 이를 극복할 수 있는 방법을 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 한자 교육 현장에서 직접 활용해 보거나 응용해 볼 수 있는 실용적 도구의 길잡이 역할도 할 수 있기를 기대한다. 한자 활용에는 많은 이점이 있음에도 불구하고 실제에 있어서는 한자 교육이 활발하지 못한 것이 전반적인 현상이다. 일부이기는 하나 한자 학습에 대한 이해 부족과 한자는 복잡하고 무조건 어렵다는 선입관, 실제 교육 현장에서의 역량 부족 등을 그 원인으로 꼽을 수 있다. 이를 극복하려면 한자 교육에 관한 전반적인 연구가 이루어지고 문제를 파악함과 더불어 문제 해결을 위한 부단한 노력이 따라야 한다. 이는 인프라의 문제와도 연결되지만 한자 교육을 담당하는 인력의 역량과도 밀접한 관계가 있다. 효과적인 한자 교육을 위한 다양한 인프라의 개발과 더불어 교육자 자신의 자질과 끊임없는 노력도 뒷받침돼야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study summarizes the necessity for Chinese character education, identifies the factors that make Chinese character education difficult, and presents an alternative teaching and learning method that can help overcome the existing problems. The study recognizes the necessity of Chinese character education, helps understand the problems of Chinese character education, and finally discuss a way to overcome them. Furthermore, this study can serve as a practical guide in the field of Chinese character education. Although there are many advantages to using Chinese characters, Chinese character education is not practiced actively. The reason for this include a lack of understanding about Chinese characters, the preconceived notion that Chinese characters are complex and unconditionally difficult, and the lack of competency of teachers. To overcome this, an overall study on Chinese character education should be conducted, its problems identified, and efforts made to solve the problems. This is connected to the problem of infrastructure, but it is also closely related to the competence of the personnel responsible for teaching Chinese characters. In addition to the development of various infrastructure for effective Chinese character education, measures to improve the educators’ qualities and efforts should be supported.
