국문 초록

건축은 문화적, 사회적 요구에 따른 시대성이 반영된 기술적 요인의 결과물 중 하나이며, 현재에도 끊임없이 발전하고 있는 유기체이다. 생활을 위한 공간적 역할과 예술적 가치를 기저에 둔 건축 예술행위는 건축의 기능적 실용성과 구조적 안정성, 미적 조형성을 충족하기 위한 재료 활용 방안과 검토가 건축이 인류와 함께한 이래 지금까지 지속되어왔다. 특히 그 중에서도 금속은 인류가 재련기술을 습득한 이래 가장 유용한 건축재료 중의 한 가지가 되어 현재와 미래사회에 없어서는 안 될 주요 수단이자 자원으로 각광 받고 있는 필수 요소 중의 하나라고 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 1960년대 후반부터 완성된 건축물들 중에서 금속 표현이 두드러지게 잘 표현된 몇몇 대표적 건물을 대상으로 건물의 발전 과정에 따른 시기별 금속재료의 표현특성을 도출하고자 하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 연구결과 재료의 반전 분리 표현현상은 1960~75년경에 실험적으로 적용되어지다 90년대에 접어들면서 본격적으로 활용되기 시작 하였으며, 광택성 재료의 활용은 60년대 이후부터 재료의 활용이 점점 증가하기 시작해 이후에도 지속적으로 활용되는 특징을 보인다. 또, 구조적 측면에서의 표현현상은 75년 이전에는 금속성 재료의 강조나 구조부재를 표현요소로 사용하는 성향이 본격화되고, 과장된 기계적 이미지 형태로 표현하는 방식이 출현하는 특징을 알 수 있고, 76년 이후에는 이상과 같은 과장된 기계적 이미지 형태의 표현이 지속되거나 또는 좀 더 극단적인 형태로 발전한 왜곡된 형태의 표현현상으로도 나타나는 것으로 파악되었다.

영문 초록

Architecture is one of the results of technical factors that reflects temporality according to cultural and social needs and an organism that continues to develop. Architectural art forms based on spatial roles and artistic value are a means of solving functional practicality, structural stability, and aesthetic formativeness. Methods to select and utilize architectural materials have been an ongoing effort since the development of architecture. Above all, metal is one of the essential elements that takes the spotlight as indispensable means and resource in the present and future society. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the expressive characteristics of metal materials by period, focusing on buildings that well expressed the use of metal by targeting the ones completed since the late 1960s. The study’s result is that there are differences in standards and characteristics of material, structure, and physical aspects in expressions through metal per period.
