국문 초록

라디오방송 중에서 방송극은 문학적이며 방송을 위해 만든 소리(聲)를 통해 구현되는 청각문학이다. 초창기 방송극의 발달과정을 보면 무대극에 해설만 곁들이는 형식이었다. 그러나 청각예술의 특징을 살려내면서 음악과 음향이 차지하는 비중이 커져갔다. 방송극의 청취하는 사람들은 소리를 매개로 하여 내면에 ‘극공간(劇空間)’을 창출해야 되기 때문에 다른 장르보다 순수한 상상력에 의지하는 장르이다. 소리를 통한 호소력은 경우에 따라 문자, 영상보다 더 큰 정서적 감동을 유발 할 수 있는 것이다. 한국 근대 라디오방송 연구는 일본의 연구자료, 해석에 의해 규정되었다. 물론 기본적인 사실관계만을 놓고 보면 수용할 부분도 있지만 큰 틀에서는 식민지적 사고가 개입된 부분이 없지않다. 우리와 일본 측의 논의를 검토해 보면 일정도 수긍되는 것도 있고 아닌 것도 있다. 따라서 근대 라디오방송에 관해서 해명되고 연구할 부분이 많다. 그런데 근대 제국일본의 정치, 사회적인 교류와 비교연구의 성과는 어느 정도 축적되어 있었으나 방송사적 측면에서의 교류 및 비교연구는 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 문화, 사상적인 측면에서의 근대화라는 관점에서 볼 때, 본 연구는 전통 사상, 문화로서의 방송과 문화의 충돌 및 융화라는 관점에서 근대화를 바라보는 새로운 관점이 필요하다. 그 일환으로 본고는 기존의 논의를 점검하고, 근대 방송극에 관한 것을 정리하였다. 이것을 통해서 근대 동아시아 라디오방송에 관한 명확한 개념 정의가 가능할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper explores the emergence and concept of East Asian radio broadcasting. It focuses on broadcasting dramas, which are literary and auditory literature transmitted through sound made for radio broadcasting. In terms of the development of early broadcasting dramas, stage dramas were communicated strictly through commentary. However, music and sound have become incorporated, as they emphasize the characteristics of auditory art. Audio is a genre that relies more on imagination than other genres because listeners of broadcasting dramas have to create a “polar space” with sound as a medium. For the audience, sound can, in some cases, produce a greater emotional impact than text and images. The study of modern Korean radio broadcasting was defined using Japanese research data and interpretation. Of course, based on historical contexts, the colonial relationship between Korea and Japan influenced the thinking and production involved in the broadcasts. In reviewing the discussions between the two countries, scholars might have differing opinions on the timeline of events during which broadcasts were made. Therefore, there are many aspects to be researched and explained about modern radio broadcasting. Although the achievements of political and social exchanges and comparative studies in modern imperial Japan were accumulated to some extent, exchanges and comparative studies were not conducted in terms of broadcasting companies. Therefore, from the perspective of cultural and ideological modernization, this study offers a new viewpoint through the lens of traditional thought, in which broadcasting is presented as both a clash and harmony of culture. Existing discussions and contents of modern broadcasting dramas were used for reference in this study. Through this study, a clear concept of modern East Asian radio broadcasting could be possible.
