국문 초록

본 연구는 박사학위자들의 박사학위논문을 질적 연구방법을 적용하여 수행한 연구경험에 관한 이해를 증진하고자 하는 시도이다. 심층면담으로 자료를 수집하였으며, 지속적 비교방법으로 분석하였다. 연구의 결과, 연구자들의 질적 연구 수행 경험은 ‘차별화된 참신한 지식’을 생산하고자 ‘질적 연구의 과학성을 인정’받고자 하는 과정이었다. ‘나도 한 번 질적 연구를 해 보고 싶다’는 호기심을 가지고 연구에 착수하였으며, 질적 연구를 수행하면서 혹독한 ‘이론과 실제의 격차’를 경험하였다. ‘타당성 있는 지식’을 생산하기 위해 ‘질적 연구 방법론 교재’, ‘선행연구 논문’, ‘질적 연구 방법론 워크숍’, ‘동료연구자’, ‘지도교수’, ‘심사위원’, ‘연구참여자들’과 지속적인 상호작용을 하였다. 질적 연구 수행 경험을 통해 연구자들은 독립적인 ‘질적 연구자로 성장’하며, 동시에 ‘인간적인 성숙’을 경험하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims at improving the understanding of researchers’ experiences in performing qualitative research for doctoral dissertations in social sciences. Data were collected from in-depth interviews of participants and were analyzed using the constant comparison method. As per the results, the researcher s experience in conducting qualitative dissertation research is a process to obtain “recognition of the scientificity of qualitative research” to produce “differentiated and novel knowledge.” They begin their research with the curiosity, “I would like to do qualitative research,” and experience a severe “gap between theory and practice” while conducting qualitative study. To “produce reasonable knowledge,” they continue to interact with “qualitative research method textbooks,” “previous studies,” “qualitative research method workshops,” “colleagues,” “advising professors,” “committee members,” and “research participants.” Through the experience of conducting qualitative research, they grow to become independent “qualitative researchers,” gaining “human maturity” at the same time.
