대학 리빙랩을 통한 도시공원의 ‘스피커스 코너’ 운영에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 시민 참여형 혁신 플랫폼인 리빙랩을 도입하여 우리나라 도시공원에 영국 하이드 파크의 스피커스 코너를 벤치마킹하였다. 대학이 주도하는 인문 리빙랩의 형태로 실험 연구를 진행하였고, 도시공원의 민주적 소통 공간으로서의 가능성을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 2·28기념중앙공원과 두류공원을 실험 대상으로 삼아 리빙랩 준비 4단계인 ‘기획-탐색-실험-평가’ 과정에 따라 실험을 진행하였다. 기획에서는 구체적인 리빙랩 추진 체계를 구축하였고, 탐색에서는 사용자들이 어떤 행동과 태도를 보이는지 관찰한 후 실험에서 프로토타입을 설계하고 테스트를 거친 후 2019년 6월부터 2019년 10월까지 총 8번의 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과 두 공원에 설치된 스피커스 코너에 참여한 공원 이용객들의 스피치 형태는 다른 양상을 보였고, 도시민들이 자유롭게 만나고 소통하면서 도시공원은 즐거움을 주는 공간, 사회적 관계를 맺는 공간으로써 재구성되었다. 평가 단계에서는 평가위원회를 구성해 문제 해결에 방해되는 기술적, 경제적, 제도적 요인은 없는지 후속 대응 방안을 모색하였다. 이 연구는 이 실험을 통해 스피치를 사회 문화적 차원으로 확장해 접근했다는 점, 대학과 학생이 창의적인 역할을 수행했다는 점, 도시공원의 새로운 활용 가치를 발견했다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

영문 초록

Adopting innovative citizen-driven platform Living Lab, this study benchmarked Speakers’ Corner in Britain’s Hyde Park for our country’s urban parks. Experimental research was carried out in the form of a college-led, human-centered Living Lab to explore the possibilities for creating a democratic communication space in city parks. In service of this objective, this study was oriented to February 28th Jungang Memorial Park and Duryu Park, and the experiment was conducted according to Living Lab’s four preparatory stages, namely co-creation, exploration, experimentation, and evaluation. The co-creation stage saw the concrete establishment of the Living Lab execution system. At the exploration stage, this study observed users’ reactive behavior and attitudes. The experimentation stage consisted of the prototype’s design and testing. Since then, eight experiments have been carried out between June and October 2019. Results showed different presentation aspects for the form of speech that the park patrons who participated in the Speakers’ Corner reproduction used. The atmosphere that the Speaker’s Corner installation created facilitates free exchanges and communication among citizens, allowing city parks to be reconstituted as enjoyable spaces that nurture social relationships. At the evaluation stage, this study organized an evaluation committee to identify follow-up countermeasures and check for the presence of technical, economical, and institutional factors that could hinder problem solving. This study is significant because the experiment approached speech in a manner that extends into the sociocultural dimension, colleges and students played a creative role, and a valuable new use was discovered for urban parks.
