푸코의 주체화와 자기 생성의 문제

국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 푸코의 주체화와 자기 생성의 문제를 밝히는 데 있다. 권력은 하나의 실체가 아니라 힘들의 관계 속에서 행사된다. 권력관계는 통치의 문제이다. 통치는 주체화의 문제이다. 권력이 지배하는 장치로 작동한다면, 주체는 그것을 벗어나기 위해서 현재의 통치 기술을 변화시켜야 한다. 자기 생성의 주체는 예속화에서 벗어나고자 하는 주체의 자기 지배 기술을 말한다. 푸코의 자유란 실체적인 것이 아니라 주체가 행위를 통해 만들어가는 것이다. 자유는 주체의 자기 생성을 의미한다. 주체의 자기 생성은 외부에 존재하는 절대적인 진리를 획득하려는 실천이 아니다. 주체의 실천의 대상은 자기 자신이 된다. 자기 자신을 변화시키는 실천이 자유의 조건이다. 고대의 자기 수양에서 가장 중요한 순간은 고행의 실천 과정 속에서 참된 담론을 주체화하는 계기와 자기 자신이 만나는 순간이다. 자기 수양은 자기를 포기하는 실천이 아니라, 자신의 실존의 목표를 정립하는 실천이며, 진실과의 연대를 맺는 것을 목표로 하는 실천이다. 자기 수양은 자기를 배려하는 기술이다. 이것은 개인이 자기 자신을 활용하거나 타인의 도움을 받아 자신의 신체와 영혼, 삶의 방식을 일련의 실천을 통해 효과적으로 배려하는 실천이다. 푸코는 자기와의 관계를 생성하기 위한 구체적인 방법으로 휘폼네마타와와 파레시아를 제시한다. 휘폼네마타는 자기와의 관계를 정립하기 위해 삶을 기록하는 글쓰기이다. 파레시아는 자기가 진실이라고 믿는 바를 용감하게 발언하는 실천행위이다. 휘폼네마타와 파레시아는 진리를 자신의 내부에 체화하여 삶의 행동의 원리이자 자기를 배려하는 실존의 기술로써 필요할 때 사용된다. 그것들은 자기를 새롭게 생성하는 방법으로써 진실의 자기화이다. 진실 되게 기록함으로써, 용감하게 말함으로써 주체의 윤리성은 더욱더 높아진다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to reveal the problems of Foucault’s subjectivation and self-creation. Power is exercised not in one substance but in the relation of forces to one another. Power relations are a matter of governance and governance is a matter of subjectivation. When power operates as a dominant device, the subject must change its current dominance skills in order to escape from it. The subject of self-creation refers to the self-governance technique of a subject wishing to escape from subordination. Foucault’s freedom is not substance but is created through action on the part of the subject. His definition of freedom refers to the subject’s self-creation.. The self-creation of the subject is not a practice meant to obtain external, absolute truths Rather. The object of the subject’s practice is itself. The practice of changing oneself is a condition of freedom. The most important moment in ancient self-cultivation was the actualization of true discourse through the practice of asceticism. self-cultivation not process of giving up the self, but rather a practice that establishes the goal of one’s own existence, it is also a practice which aims to form solidarity with the truth. Self-cultivation is a self-care technique. It is a means by which an individual uses their’s self to take a series of actions allowing for effective consideration their body, soul, and way of life. Foucault presents Hupomnémata and Parrêsia as specific ways to create a relationship with the self. Hupomnémata is a type of writing that records life in order to establish a relationship with oneself. Parrêsia is a practice of bravery, wherein an individual speaks what one believes to be true. Hupomnémata and Parrêsia are used when needed as techniques embodying truth into one’s existence, his acts manifest principles of life actions, and the consideration of oneself. They serve as a magnetization of truth, which in turn creates new truths. By writing truthfully, and speaking bravely, the subject’s ethics become even stronger.
