말하기와 연계한 자기소개서 쓰기 교육 방안

국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 자기 탐색을 바탕으로 말하기와 연계한 자기소개서 쓰기 교육방안에 대해 살피는 것이다. 그동안 자기소개서 쓰기에 대한 학습자들의 관심과 기대가 점차 커지면서 자기소개서 쓰기 교수법에 대한 논의도 활발하게 진행되어 왔다. 하지만 취업에 대한 구체적인 계획이 없는 1학년들이 취업용 자기소개서 쓰기를 연습하는 것이 마땅한지, 대학 글쓰기 교재는 자기소개서 쓰기에 대한 관심과 기대를 잘 반영하고 있는지에 대해서는 여전히 논의가 진행 중이다. 여기에 한 학기 15주 동안 글쓰기의 전 과정을 두루 섭렵하고, 이를 바탕으로 갈래별 글쓰기와 학술적 글쓰기를 하고 프레젠테이션까지 훑어야 하는 대학 글쓰기 교실의 환경도 자기소개서 쓰기 교육이 극복해야 할 난관이다. 이 글은 이와 같은 문제적 사항을 고려하여 자기소개서 작성에 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있는 실천 가능한 형태의 교육 방안이 절실하다는 인식에서 출발하였다. 그리고 이러한 문제를 해결 할 단초로 ‘(자기 탐색에 바탕을 둔) 말하기와 자기소개서 쓰기의 연계’에 주목하였다. 그 결과 3분 발표와 탐색적 글쓰기를 연계한 자기소개서 쓰기의 단계별 방안을 마련하였다. 이 글에서 구상하는 연계 수업 모델은 글쓰기 교육의 여러 제한들을 해결하는 방법론을 찾고자 했다는 데 의의가 있다. 다만, 이 논의가 교육 현장의 요청을 적극 수용하고 있다 하더라도, 자기소개서를 쓸 때 무엇을, 어떻게 써야할지 막막하다는 학생들의 고충을 일시에 해결했다고 보기는 어렵다. 논의 과정에서 살피지 못한 문제들은 후속 연구를 통해 보완해 나가기로 한다.

영문 초록

This paper tries to look at the method of writing a self-introduction letter (personal statement) in connection with speaking based on self-exploration. With a gradual increase in learners interest in and expectation from writing a self-introduction letter, there have been active discussions on the method of writing a personal statement. However, there is still debate on whether first graders, who do not have specific employment plans, should practice writing a self-introduction letter for securing a job, and whether college writing materials reflect freshmen’s interest in and expectation from the same. It is a challenge to overcome the environment of the college writing classroom where you have to spend 15 weeks of a semester writing, to prepare for various forms of writing education, and to look through the presentations. Ultimately, this environment is not favorable for writing a self-introduction letter. This paper starts with the recognition that, considering these problems, there is an urgent need for a practical education method that can provide help for writing a self-introduction. As a starting point to solve these problems, it examines the connection between speaking based on self-exploration and writing a self-introduction. Subsequently, I prepare a step-by-step method of writing a self-introduction letter in conjunction with a 3-minute presentation and reflexive writing. The linkage model introduced in this paper is to find out how to solve the various limitations of writing education, which is open to suggestions from the education field. At the same time, it is difficult to say whether students have solved their problems through this model. The problems that have not been discussed in this paper should be examined in subsequent studies.
