상보적 교수 이론에 기반한 한국어 읽기 수업 효과 연구

국문 초록

본고는 현재 대학에서 수학하는 외국인 학부생들을 대상으로 한 읽기 수업에서 구성주의 학습 이론인 상보적 교수 이론을 적용해 보고 그 수업의 결과를 분석함으로써 상보적 교수 활동이 학문 목적 한국어 읽기 수업 교육 방안으로의 적용 가능성에 대해 논의하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 학문 목적 한국어 읽기 수업을 위한 상보적 교수 모형의 틀을 제안하고 이를 수업에 적용하여 그 과정에서 산출된 결과물을 분석해 봄으로써 학습자들의 읽기 능력에 미치는 효과를 분석해보았다. 학습자들의 중간고사와 기말고사의 성적을 분석해 본 결과 강의식 수업과 개인연습 위주로 이루어진 수업에서 학습자의 읽기 능력은 전체적으로 향상되었지만 잘하는 학생들은 여전히 잘하고 못하는 학생들은 여전히 못하는 패턴을 보였다. 반면 강의식 수업과 개인연습, 그리고 상보적 교수활동으로 이루어진 수업에서는 학습자들의 읽기 능력이 전체적으로 향상된 것은 물론 읽기 능력이 부족했었던 학생들의 성적이 크게 올라 전체적으로 상보적 교수 활동이 학습자들의 읽기 능력을 향상시키고 더불어 결국 학업 성취도를 성공으로 이끌어 낸다는 것을 입증하였다. 또한 성찰일지의 분석을 통해 상보적 교수 활동이 학습자의 읽기 전략과 학습 전략을 향상시키고, 더불어 자기 효능감에도 긍정적인 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 더 많은 학문적 상황에서의 적용과 결과분석이 향후 과제로 남아 있지만 상보적 교수이론을 적용한 읽기 수업이 학문적 상황에서 학습자들을 능동적 학습자로 이끌고 학습자 중심의 의미 있는 상호작용적 수업의 방안이 될 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the applicability of reciprocal learning activities as a teaching plan for a Korean reading class for academic purposes by applying the reciprocal learning theory, which is a constructivism learning theory used in reading classes for foreign undergraduates currently studying in a university. To this end, we proposed the framework of a reciprocal learning model for a Korean reading class, applied it to the class and examined the effects on learners reading abilities by analyzing the results produced in the process. According to the analysis of learners’ midterm and final exam grades, the learners’ overall reading abilities improved in the lecture-based class and personal practice-oriented class. However, good students continued to perform well, while poor students performed poorly. On the other hand, in a class that was composed of lecture-based class, individual practice, and reciprocal learning activities, the learners’ overall reading abilities improved moreover the grades of students with poor reading abilities improved greatly, indicating that reciprocal learning activities not only generally improve learners’ reading abilities but also lead to academic achievement and success. In addition, an analysis of student’s reflection journals showed that reciprocal learning activities improved their reading and learning strategies and have a positive effect on self-efficacy. These result should be applied and analyzed in more academic situations in the future. The result of this study show that reading classes that use reciprocal learning theory are expected to lead student to become active learners in academic situations and to become a method for developing meaningful interactive classes that are centered around learners
