‘예기치 않은 전환’을 겪은 한부모여성의 일 경험과 진로적응에 대한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 예기치 않은 전환을 겪은 한부모여성의 일 경험과 진로적응에 대해 내러티브 탐구로 연구하였다. 이를 통해 한부모여성의 진로상담 및 사회적 지원에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 방법 예기치 않은 전환을 겪은 한부모여성 3명을 연구참여자로 선정하고 내러티브 탐구방법으로 심층 인터뷰하였다. 자료수집기간은 2022년 7월부터 2022년 12월까지이며 2명의 연구 참여자와 예비인터뷰를 실시하고 연구 참여자마다 3회의 면담과 추가인터뷰를 실시하였다. Connelly(2000)의 내러티브 탐구절차에 따라 연구 참여자의 전환 경험, 일 경험과 진로적응은 어떠했는지 핵심주제를 범주화하고 자료 분석을 실시하여 내러티브를 재구성하였다. 결과 예기치 않은 전환을 겪은 한부모여성으로서 일 경험과 진로적응에 대한 내러티브는 ‘거꾸로 강을 거슬러 오르는 연어처럼’ 극복해야하는 이야기를 통해 변곡점이 된 시간이었으며, 미처 의미부여하지 못한 ‘잃어버린 시간을 찾아서’ 애쓰는 시간이었고, 이를 통해 스스로가 주인공이 되어 ‘내가 만든 울퉁불퉁한 길’을 걸어가는 여정이었다. 결론 예기치 않은 전환을 겪은 한부모여성의 일 경험과 진로적응에 대한 내러티브의 개인적 정당성은 일을 통해 새로운 정체성을 형성하고 삶의 의미를 새롭게 인식하게 된 것이다. 실제적 정당성은 일에 대한 의미부여와 진로적응의 중요성을 깨닫고 이를 통해 내적 또는 개인적 성장을 이루게 된 것이다. 사회적 정당성은 한부모여성의 일과 자녀양육 환경이 더 나아질 수 있도록 인식개선과 이를 위한 제도적 접근이 필요하다는 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to study the work experience and career adjustment experience of single-parent women who experienced an unanticipated transition through narrative exploration, and to provide implications for career counseling for single-parent women. Methods Three single parent women who underwent an unexpected transition were selected as research participants and in-depth interviews were conducted using a narrative inquiry method. The data collection period was from July 2022 to December 2022, and preliminary interviews were conducted with two research participants, followed by three interviews and additional interviews with each research participant. According to Connelly's (2000) narrative inquiry procedure, the research participants' transition experience, work experience, and career adjustment were categorized into key themes and analyzed to reconstruct the narrative. Results As a single parent woman who underwent an unexpected turn, the narrative about work experience and career adjustment was a turning point through the story of overcoming ‘like a salmon going upside down in a river’, and the time of struggling ‘in search of lost time’ that had not yet been given meaning. It was a journey through which he became the main character and walked the ‘rugged road I made’. Conclusions The personal justification of the narrative about the work experience and career adaptation of single parent women who underwent an unanticipated transition is that they form a new identity and newly recognize the meaning of life through work, and the practical justification is that giving meaning to work and career adaptation are important, and through this to achieve inner or personal growth. The social justification is that it is necessary to raise awareness and take an institutional approach to improve the working and child-rearing environment of single-parent women.
