일제강점기 대중매체의 ‘김옥균’ 표상화 과정

국문 초록

일제강점기 김옥균에 대한 인식과 서사물에 관한 기존 연구는 김옥균을 주 인공으로 했던 문학작품에 대한 분석에 초점을 맞추어 진행되는 경향이 강했다. 이글에서는 기존 연구에서 분절된 지점을 연결하기 위해 조선인이 주도한 언론 매체에 주목하여 김옥균이 어떻게 표상되고 유통되고 있었는지를 고찰했다. 1910년대 일본 우익단체였던 현양사 계열 인사들의 김옥균 서사는 그들 활 동의 정당성을 확보하기 위한 것이었고, 일본 정부에 대한 비판의 성격이 강 했다. 1920년대 김옥균을 통해 조선인의 실천적 각성을 촉구한 계열은 사회주 의 계열의 지식인들이었다. 1920년대 중반 이후부터 동아일보와 조선일보 는 사회주의 계급 담론을 포섭하여 계급협조를 통한 민족 일치의 담론을 생 산했다. 이 과정에서 김옥균은 ‘개혁과 독립’에 대한 회고적 상상의 매개하는 민족의 위인이 되었다. 이후 다양한 대중매체를 통해 김옥균 표상이 재현되었 고, 이를 토대로 전시체계기에는 동양의 선각자라는 의미를 부가하여 조선인 의 민족적 자각을 전쟁 참여로 끌어들이는 담론전략에 활용되었다.

영문 초록

Japanese colonial era The perception of Kim Ok-gyun and existing studies on narratives tended to focus on the analysis of literary works that had Kim Okkyun as the main character. Therefore, in this article, we will examine how Kim Ok-gyun was represented and distributed by paying attention to the media led by Koreans to connect the branches segmented in the previous study. The narrative of Kim Ok-gyun of Hyeonyangsa Temple, a Japanese right-wing organization in the 1910s, was intended to secure the legitimacy of their activities. This was intended to criticize the Japanese government. In the 1920s, through Kim Ok-gyun, the line that urged the practical awakening of Koreans was the intellectuals of the socialist line. Since the mid-1920s, Dong-A Ilbo and Chosun Ilbo have embraced socialist class discourse and produced national discourse through class cooperation. In this process, Kim Ok-gyun became a great man of the people who mediated the retrospective imagination of reform and independence . After that, the representation of Kim Ok-gyun was reproduced through various mass media, and based on this, it was used as a discourse strategy to draw national consciousness so that Koreans could participate in the war.
