국문 초록

본 연구는 한문서찰의 格式과 用語에 초점을 맞춘 외적인 연구에 그 목적 을 두고, 寒暄箚錄에 나타난 위장의 격식과 용어에 대해 고찰하였다. 한문 서찰에 대한 연구는 서찰이 담고 있는 내용을 중심으로 살펴보는 내적인 연구 와 그 형식적인 측면을 살펴보는 외적인 연구로 구분할 수 있다. 내적인 측면 의 연구는 서찰이 직접적인 연구의 대상이 아니고 서찰이 담고 있는 내용을 중심으로 주로 작가의 사상이나 문학, 교유 관계 등을 연구하는데 부수적인 역할로 서찰의 내용을 인용하는 정도다. 그러나 이것은 서찰이 직접적인 연구 대상이 되어 문체적인 특성이나 격식 용어에 관해서 논한 것이 아니다. 그래 서 한문서찰의 격식과 용어라는 외적인 측면을 연구하기 위해 서간문의 형식 및 내용에 대한 것을 모아 기록한 類書인 寒暄箚錄의 권3을 연구 대상으로 삼아 논의를 진행하였다. 한훤차록 권3은 弔慰에 해당하는 내용으로 봉투를 쓰는 격식, 왕서와 답서를 완성하는 내용을 순서대로 배열한 권1, 권2와는 다르게 상중에 주고받는 서찰의 피봉과 격식, 내용의 용례를 수록하고 있다. 이것은 상을 당했을 경우 권1, 권2의 격식이 아닌 특별한 격식과 용어가 필요했기 때문이다. 상례는 그 기간이 길고 절차가 엄격하고 복잡하여 주고받던 서찰 또한 평소와 다른 격식 과 용어가 사용되었다. 또한 위장의 격식과 용어의 분명한 틀을 제시하고 있는 한훤차록을 비롯한 많은 서찰교본과 서식집에는 상례 시 주고받는 격식과 용어에 대해서 별도 항목으로 수록하고 있어 논의의 대상으로 삼을 수 있다. 먼저 2장에서 한훤차록의 구성과 내용을 살펴보고, 3장에서는 서찰의 격 식과 용어와 관련된 기존 연구 성과를 바탕으로 한훤차록 권3에 해당하는 喪禮 시 주고받는 慰狀의 격식과 용어를 고찰하였다. 4장에서는 앞 장에서 정 리한 위장의 격식과 용어를 다른 실물 서찰 자료에 적용하여 그 용례를 확장 하는 성과를 이루었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate the external aspects of letters written in Chinese characters with a focus on formalities and terms, looking into the formalities and terms of consolation letters in Hanhwoncharok. Researches on letters written in Chinese characters can be divided into internal researches focused on the content of a letter and external ones examining the formal aspects of a letter. The former do not investigate letters themselves but focus on their content, mainly investigating writers ideas, literature and friendship relationship by citing the content of a letter as an ancillary means. They, however, discuss nothing about a letter s characteristics in terms of writing style, formality, and term with no direct investigative focus on the letter itself. In an effort to investigate the external aspects of letters written in Chinese characters such as formalities and terms, the present study moved its discussion forward with Volume 3 of Hanhwoncharok that collects and records the forms and content of letter writing. Covering content about condolence, Volume 3 offers examples of letters to be exchanged during mourning in terms of envelope, formality, and content unlike Volumes 1 and 2 that cover the formalities of writing on an envelope and the content of completing a Wang letter and reply. Volume 3 meets the need for special formalities and terms for mourning different from the formalities in Volumes 1 and 2. As a funeral rite lasted long and took place in a strict and complicated procedure, letters exchanged for a funeral rite required different formalities and terms from common letters. Many textbooks and collections of forms for letters including Hanhwoncharok, which provide a clear framework of formalities and terms for consolation letters, contain additional items about the formalities and terms to be exchanged for a funeral rite and offer points of discussion. In the present study, Chapter 2 examined the composition and content of Hanhwoncharok. Chapter 3 examined the formalities and terms of consolation letters for a funeral rite in Volume 3 of Hanhwoncharok based on the results of previous studies on the formalities and terms of letters. Chapter 4 applied the formalities and terms of consolation letters arranged in the previous chapter to materials of other real letters, achieving the expansion of their examples.
