재직자 대학생의 대학 교육 경험에 대한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 재직자특별전형을 통해 대학에 진학한 고졸 취업자들의 대학 교육 경험과 함께, 대학에 부여하는 의미를 심층적으로 분석하였다. 이를 통해 대학 평생교육체제 지원 사업 일환으로 시행된 선취업 후진학제의 특성을 살펴봄으로서 해당 정책의 개선 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 고졸 취업자인 청년들은 고등학교 졸업 후 선취업을 하고 대학입학을 할 때 ‘고졸 사원’에 대한 차별을 최소화하고, ‘일반적인’ 대학에 진학하고자 하였다. 재직자특별전형은 이를 위해 가장 적합한 선취업후진학제도였다. 이후 교육을 포함한 대학에서의 다양한 경험과 선취업후진학 체제 취지나 목적에는 긍정적인 의미를 부여했지만 대학 자체에 대해서는 크게 의미를 부여하지 않는 양상을 보였다. 이를 통해 선취업후진학 정책 기조와 지향이 수요자 및 이용자의 니즈와 일치하지 않는다는 점을 지적하였다. 선취업후진학 청년들을 대상으로 하는 교육 정책에 있어 정책 입안자 뿐 아니라 정책 대상자인 고졸 취업자 및 재직자 대학생 등 다양한 이해관계 주체들이 함께 대학의 역할에 대해서 협의하고, 대학 문화를 만들어 나갈 수 있는 구조를 형성해야 함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The study analyzed the process of entering university, experience in university life and the meaning of university of highschool graduates who applied “policy on the special admission for specialized vocational high school graduates”. Also, this study analyzed ‘work-to-school’ system which has lasted for nearly a decade. Based on this, this study explored the ways to improve the lifelong education at universities and related policies. The research results are summarized as follows. First, work-to-school highschool graduates went to high school with both employment and college in mind, but chose the path of employment. Second, after three years of work experience were filled, which was the minimum period to apply for the ‘policy on the special admission for specialized vocational high school graduates’, they applied to university. Discrimination against ‘high school graduates’ was a major factor in deciding the time to enter the university. Third, the most important factor in entering the university was that choose the general university as much as possible. Fourth, they positively understood the work-to-school system and related policy, but did not give much meaning to university or higher education. The conclusions of this study are summarized as follows. First, the policy stance and orientation do not match with that of consumers and users. Second, it is difficult to prioritize objectives of policy consumers and users, such as individual learning needs or improving job competency. Rather, the efficiency of university is emphasized. Finally, the social perception related to work-to-school was still negative. Through theses results, this study proposed the necessity to analyze the meaning and role of universities, and develop structure the stakeholder including policymakers, universities, work-to-school highschool graduates, and students in specialized vocational highschool to create cultures of university and lifelong education.
