국문 초록

본 연구는 남한주민 및 북한이탈주민을 대상으로 디지털 기기의 이용이 가족 및 친구의 사회적 지지 형성에 미치는 영향력을 경험적으로 검증하기 위해 진행되었다. 디지털 기기는 개인 간 사회적 교류의 형태와 범위를 급격하기 확장시키면서 사회적 지지 형성에 기여하고 있다. 이 같은 커뮤니케이션 매체로서의 디지털 기기의 특성은 사회적 단절을 경험한 북한이탈주민들이 새로운 사회적 지지를 형성하는데 있어 유용하게 사용된다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 북한이탈주민들은 남한주민에 비하여 낮은 수준의 사회적 지지를 경험하고 있었다. 둘째, 인터넷 이용 경험은 가족 및 친구의 사회적 지지 수준에 유의미한 영향력을 미쳤다. 셋째, 디지털 기기를 ‘관계형성 및 유지’ 와 ‘정보 생산 및 공유’목적으로 사용할 경우 사회적 지지에 긍정적인 영향력을 미쳤으나, ‘사회 참여’를 위해 사용할 경우에는 부정적인 영향력을 미쳤다. 넷째, 디지털 기기 이용이 사회적 지지에 미치는 영향력은 남한주민 보다는 북한이탈주민에게 더욱 큰 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to empirically verify the impact of the use of digital devices on the social support of family and friends among South Koreans and North Korean defectors. Digital devices have contributed to the formation of social support by rapidly expanding the form and scope of social exchanges among individuals. The characteristics of digital devices as such a type of communication media are useful for creating new social support for North Korean defectors who have experienced social disconnect in the past. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, North Korean defectors were experiencing a lower level of social support than South Koreans. Second, the experience of using the Internet had a significant impact on the level of social support of family and friends. Third, the use of digital devices for “formation and maintenance of relationships” and “production and sharing of information” has a positive impact on social support, but it has a negative influence on “social participation”. Fourth, the influence of digital device use on social support was greater for North Korean defectors than South Koreans.
