이주여성상담원이 상담에서 경험하는 어려움과 대처과정

국문 초록

본 연구는 이주여성상담원의 관점에서 상담에서 경험하는 어려움은 무엇이고 이를 극복하기 위한 대처 방안은 무엇인지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 2017년 2월 한 달동안 다문화 관련기관에서 근무하는 13명의 이주여성상담원을 대상으로 세 그룹의 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(FGI)를 실시하였다. 연구결과 6개의 영역, 26개의 범주, 59개의 개념이 도출되었다. 6개의 영역은 ‘내담자가 한국문화에 대한 수용력이 낮음, 내담자가 변화의 의지가 약함, 상담자의 전문적 상담 역량이 부족함, 상담자의 다문화적 역량이 부족함, 어려움을 극복하기 위한 다양한 전략을 활용함, 상담자 교육이 필요함’ 으로 나타났다. 분석 결과 본 연구의 ‘내담자의 변화 의지가 약함’과 ‘상담자의 전문적 역량이 부족함’의 영역 등은 초심상담자, 상담전문가, 청소년동반자들의 어려움과 유사한 요인으로, ‘내담자가 한국문화에 대한 수용력이 낮음’, ‘상담자의 다문화적 역량이 부족함’과 같은 어려움은 다문화 상담에서 드러날 수 있는 독특한 요인으로 밝혀졌다. 마지막으로 연구의 시사점과 한계점에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined the difficulties experienced in counseling from the viewpoint of migrant female counselors and what countermeasures are needed to overcome them. For this purpose, a focus group interview for 13 migrant female counselors who were currently working as counselors in multi-cultural organizations was conducted in February, 2017. As a result of the study, 6 domains, 26 categories and 59 concepts were derived. The six domains are: client s low acceptance of Korean culture, client s weak will to change, lack of counselor s professional counseling ability, lack of multicultural competency of counselor, various strategies to overcome difficulties, counselor Education is needed. The results of this study are similar to those of the previous researches on the subjects weak will to change the client and lack of professional competence of the counselor . However, such areas as the client s low acceptance of Korean culture and lack of multicultural competency of counselors are unique factors that can be revealed in multicultural counseling. Finally, the implications and limitations of the study were discussed.
