초등학생의 놀이성이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향과 자아존중감의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학생의 놀이성, 자아존중감, 학교생활적응 간에는 어떤 관계가 있는지 알아보고, 놀이성이 자아존중감과 학교생활적응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인하며, 놀이성과 학교생활적응 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개 효과가 있는지 검 증하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 2017년 4월 3일부터 4월 14일까지 표집된 충청남도 K시에 소재한 3개 초등학교 4～6학년 454명이며, 남학생은 218명, 여학생은 236명이었다. 수집된 자료로 변인들 간의 관계와 영향력을 검증하기 위해 상관분석 과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였고, 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 위계적 회귀분석과 함께 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 분석법을 적용하였으며, 유의성 검증을 위해 Sobel test를 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 놀이성과 자아존중감 간, 놀 이성과 학교생활적응 간, 자아존중감과 학교생활적응 간에 모두 통계적으로 유의한 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 놀이성의 하위요인 중 사회적적극성과 유머감각이 자아존중감 및 학교생활적응의 하위요인에 영향을 주는 예측변인임을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 자아존중감은 초등학생의 놀이성과 학교생활적응 간의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 초등학생의 놀이성이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향에 대해 자아존중감이 매개 역할을 함으로써 자아존중감을 높이면 학교생활적응 에 더 긍정적일 수 있음을 시사하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among playfulness, self-esteem and school adjustment, and to identify how playfulness had effects on self-esteem and school adjustment, especially the meditating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between playfulness and school adjustment. The participants were 4th, 5th and 6th grade students of three elementary schools in Chungnam province, South Korea, 218 boys and 236 girls. The collected data was analysed by correlation and multiple regression analysis with a SPSS program. Additionally, Baron and Kenny’s(1986) method was implemented for proof of mediating effects followed by a Sobel test. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were statistically significant positive correlations among playfulness, self-esteem and school adjustment; Second, predictive variables like social positivity and sense of humor, among sub-variables of playfulness, had an influence on self-esteem and sub-variables of school adjustment; Third, self-esteem had a partial mediating effect on the influence of playfulness of elementary school students in school adjustment. This suggests that self-esteem, with egard to the effect of playfulness of elementary school students in school adjustment, can play their mediating roles. If self-esteem increases, the effect on school adjustment will be more positive.
