수습교사의 교직생활에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 수습교사의 소외된 교직생활에 대한 보고다. 연구를 위해 사과초등학교에서 수습교사로 근무한 경험이 있는 정지찬과 박혜은, 두 사람을 연구 참여자로 하여 질적 연구의 주요 자료 수집 방법인 참여관찰 및 심층면담, 현지문서 수집의 방법으로 다양한 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 연구 참여자들에게 수습교사란 수업을 하는 사람, “교무행정업무”를 보조함으로써 과도한 업무에 따른 교사들의 고단함을 덜어 주는 사람을 의미했다. 그러나 현실은 달랐다. 수습교사는 단지 “잡일”, “허드렛일” 을 하는 “행정보조”에 지나지 않았다. 이와 같은 수습교사에 대한 자기 이해와 현실 사이의 괴리 속에서 수습교사들은 소외를 체험하였다. 분석 결과 소외는 크게 ‘사회화적 소외’, ‘문화적 소외’, ‘시스템적 소외’, ‘관계적 소외’, 그리고 ‘교육적 소외’등 다섯 가지 유형으로 분류될 수 있었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 학교사회의 유지, 지속, 발전을 위해 교직 후속세대의 교육에 관심을 가지고 심혈을 기울일 필요가 있음과 함께 교사들의 일상을 교육이라는 ‘삶의 형식’으로 재조직할 필요가 있음을 주장하였다. 끝으로 그에 관한 연구를 동료 연구자들에게 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study is a report on the alienation experienced by probationary teachers during their in-class training period. For this research, we recruited two research participants, Ji Chan Jung and Hye Eun Park, who had previously worked as probationary teachers at the Sagwa Elementary School. We collected and analyzed various data using the main data collection methods for qualitative research - participant observation, in-depth interviews, and collection of local documents. According to the research participants, a probationary teacher referred to a person who taught classes and alleviated teachers’ fatigue resulting from heavy workloads by assisting in “teachers’ administrative work.” However, the reality was quite different. Probationary teachers were only “administrative assistants” who did “chores.” In this gap between the self-understanding of probationary teachers and reality, probationary teachers experienced alienation. Based on the analysis results, we classified alienation broadly into five types: “sociological alienation,” “cultural alienation,” “systemic alienation,” “relational alienation,” and “educational alienation.” Based on the above findings, to ensure maintenance, sustainability, and development of the scholastic community, we argued for the need to take a close and keen interest in the training of future generations of probationary teachers as well as to reorganize their daily lives into a ”particular format” as set forth in education manuals. Last, we have also proposed to fellow researchers possible studies in related topics.
