교과 연계를 통한 통합형 STEAM 수업 구성

국문 초록

STEAM 수업은 교과간 연계를 통해 학습자의 창의성과 문제해결능력을 신장하고자 하는 교육 방안으로 본 연구는 교과 연계를 통한 통합형 STEAM 수업 구성 방안을 제안하고 있다. 지금까지 STEAM과 관련된 연구는 과학, 기술과를 중심으로 실천 되어 왔지만 이는 학습자들이 경험하는 통합적 경험의 장을 담보하기에는 일정한 한계가 존재해왔다. 이에 본 연구는 교과간 통합 수업의 사례로 사회과 모의선거 활동을 통해 사회과 통합형 STEAM 수업 구성방안을 제안하고자 한다. 수업구성을 위해 2015년 3～4월 수업설계 및 교육과정 분석을 시작으로 7월 6일～20일까지 약 2주간 교과 통합 STEAM 수업을 구성하고 운영하였다. 4학년 교과의 다양한 학습 주제 중 사회과 모의선거 활동을 중심으로 국어과의 주장하기와 듣기, 미술과의 포스터 만들기, 수학과의 통계자료 작성하기 활동이 연계된 통합수업을 위해 교육과정 재구성을 시도하였다. 이러한 교과간 통합 시도는 전통적 교과중심수업의 한계를 극복하고, 학 습자 중심의 활동을 구성하고 전개하는 과정에서 마주하는 시간의 부족과 활동의 단 편성을 극복할 수 있는 또 하나의 실천방안이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

STEAM class is an educational means to raise students’ creativity and problem-solving ability through the connection of subjects. This study suggests subjects-integrated STEAM class through the connection of subjects. Until now, studies related to STEAM have mainly been conducted centering on the subjects, science and technology. However, this has limitation to create the ground for integrated experience the ‘reality of society’ that learners experience through integrated education. In this sense, this study suggests mock election activity in social studies class as an example of subjects-integrated class. Trough this, it suggests a means to compose subjects-integrated STEAM class of social studies. To compose a class, the study started with lesson plan and analysis of curriculum in March~April, 2015. For 2 weeks from July 6 to July 20, subjects-integrated class was composed and operated. Among various study topics in the fourth grade of elementary school, focusing on mock election in social studies, a curriculum was reconstructed combining the existing curriculum of making arguments and listening in Korean, making posters in art, and making statistical data in math. Such attempts can overcome the limitations of traditional subject centered classes. Also, they can become action plans that overcome time shortages and activity fragmentation that occur when activities are constructed or developed.
