특수교육에서 STEAM 교육 적용을 위한 초등교사와 특수교사의 요구 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 교육과학기술부 ‘2011년 업무계획’ 보고를 통해 창의적 융합인재양성을 위한 초중등 STEAM 교육 계획에 의거하여 특수교육에서 STEAM 교육 적용을 위 한 초등교사와 특수교사의 요구를 분석하기 위한 것으로 D시의 초등교사와 특수교 사를 대상으로 모바일 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 대상자는 초등교사 191명과 특 수교사 78명이며, 설문 결과는 SPSS 21.0 통계프로그램을 사용하여 교차분석을 실 시하여 각 배경변인별 차이점을 파악하였다. 논의와 연구결과를 통해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘STEAM 교육의 환경적 요구(학교, 학급)’에 있어서는 STEAM 교육이 학교 현장에 정착되기 위해선 STEAM 교육의 필요성에 대한 교사의 인식 전환과 일반교육과 특수교육을 위한 STEAM 교육 관련 수업 자료의 보급이 우선적 으로 이루어져야 된다고 파악되었다. 둘째, ‘STEAM 교육의 교육적 적합성’ 따른 미 적용의 원인은 STEAM 교육의 이해 및 자료 부족으로 파악되었으며, 특수교육대상 자의 수업 흥미도 및 참여도의 향상에 기여할 것이라는 긍정적인 평가와 교사에게 STEAM 교육은 수업과 업무에 부담을 증가시킬 것이라는 부정적인 평가의 결과도 파악되었다. 이에 제언으로는 STEAM 교육과 연계된 학교 외의 교육환경 조성, 특 수교육에 적합한 STEAM 프로그램 개발, 융합인재양성을 위한 STEAM 교육의 목 적에 도달하기 위하여 특수교사와 학부모에게 연수 기회 제공 등이 조속히 이루어 져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is to analyze the needs of elementary school teachers and special education teachers who want to apply the STEAM method to special education. This research is based on the STEAM Education Planning 2011 business report by MEST(Ministry of Education, Science and Technology) whose goal was to develop creative and competent learners: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) through this STEAM project. This research team surveyed city elementary school teachers and special education teachers surveyed via mobile phone. The participants in this survey were 191 elementary school teachers and 78 special education teachers. The results were produced by doing cross-tabulation analysis using the SPSS 21.0 statistics program. As a result, we took two categories into consideration and discovered the following: There is positive and negative feedback. The positive feedback indicates this project can attribute to special education learners’ interests and needs. However, negative feedback indicates that this project can create more work for teachers. The first issue is getting teachers to understand the benefits of STEAM. The other issue is providing resources that teachers need to get measurable results. Second teachers use the STEAM project less than expected because there is a lack of understanding about this project as well as a lack of teaching materials. Therefore, to use the STEAM project successfully the following is strongly suggested; building the environment for this project inside and outside of the school, development of the STEAM for special education and training courses for teachers and parents to achieve the cultivation of creative and competent learners: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
