국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 외국인 유학생의 경험을 통하여 한국어 높임표현에 대한 어려 움을 탐색하고 한국어 높임표현에 대한 교육 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 연구문제를 설정하고 외국인 유학생 7명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰하 여 이들의 사례를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 외국인 유학생들이 한국어의 높임표현에서 어려워하는 것은 나라마 다 조금씩 다르긴 하지만 한국어의 지위를 통하여 호칭이 바뀌는 부분을 어려워하 고 있었다. 또한 한국어의 어휘 중 같은 의미지만 높임 표현을 할 때 어휘가 변하는 표현에 대해 어려워하였다. 한국어 높임표현은 한국어 교육현장에서 배운 높임표현 과 실제로 대화생활이나 한국생활에서의 높임표현은 많은 차이가 난다고 인식하였 다. 더불어 한국어의 높임표현에 대한 학습은 한국인과 실제 담화상황에서 한국인이 행하는 것을 보고 이해하며 배우고 있었다. 연구결과를 통하여 한국어 높임표현의 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구는 외국인 유학생들이 힘들어하는 높임표현에 대하여 살펴보는 기회 가 되었으며 한국인 학습자에게 높임표현교육에 방향을 제공하길 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study is to explore foreign students difficulties on Korean Honorific expression and suggest education method that shows easy ways to teach honorific expression. The first subject for inquiry is about what is difficult Korean honorific expression. Secondly, what is the best way to teach Korean honorific expression? Qualitative study method was used by doing in-depth interview with seven foreign language learners and analyzing the cases. The result shows that the first reason why foreign students feel difficulties learning Korean honorific expression is that they felt difficulties on changed title according to status ; however, there differences are more or less depends on their nationality. Secondly, they felt difficulties on changed honorific vocabularies having same meaning. Thirdly, they recognized that there are huge differences between honorific expressions they learned in class and honorific expressions in real life. Last but not least, they have been comprehending and learning Korean honorific expression through real talk situation with Korean. Through these results, education method can be suggested as follows. First, correct honorific expressions should be taught. Beside textbooks, Korean variable expressions according to various situations should be taught. Secondly, same ending of a word should be found and taught honorific expressions as well as normal expressions. Also, necessary vocabularies that can be changed according to the situation should be taught. Thirdly, vocabularies that are changed by honorific expression should be mainly taught and the meaning of them and situations should be taught repeatedly. Last but not least, titles that can be changed depends on family relations, social status, public situations and private situations should be taught. This study is expected to provide chances to explore honorific expressions that foreign students feel difficulties as well as suggest right education method to teach Korean language learners.
