국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 아동 문학 작품에서 나타나는 전치사 ‘from’의 번역 양상을 분석하여, 영어 학습 을 위해 사용되는 한국어 번역의 개선에 대한 교육적 제언을 하는 것이다. 기존의 영어 교육에서 일 반적으로 교수되었던 ‘from’의 의미와 용법을 통사론 분야의 선행 연구 및 영한사전을 기초로 분류한 다음, 􋺷The wonderful wizard of Oz􋺸의 전문가 번역문 코퍼스에서 ‘from’의 실전적 번역 사례를 추 출․검토하여 기존의 한국어 번역과 차별화되는 새로운 번역의 전략들을 제시하였다. 영어 교육의 현 장에서는 전치사와 같은 기능어에 대한 번역이 한두 개의 고정된 어휘로만 이루어지는 경우가 많은 데, 이러한 경우 사용 맥락이 고려된 진정성 있는 번역이 불가능해지고 어휘의 1:1 대응을 넘어서는 유연한 번역의 가능성이 줄어들 수밖에 없다. 문학 작품에 대한 전문가의 번역을 활용하여 어휘와 문 법 범주에 대한 다양하고 세련된 번역 전략을 체계화하고 지속적으로 축적해 간다면, 영어 학습 교재 의 한국어 해설 등에 사용되는 번역 품질의 향상과 새로운 형태의 영작문 과제 개발을 위한 기초 자 료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the aspect of the Korean translation of from in the professional translations of children s literary works, and to make educational suggestions for the improvement of the Korean translation used in the English learning field. After classifying the meaning and usage of from based on the research results in syntactic and comparative linguistics, we extracted the translation examples of from from the expert translation corpora of “The wonderful wizard of Oz” and suggested translation strategies that are different from those used in educational field. In the field of English education, translation of functional words such as prepositions is often made up of a couple of cliche words. In this case, it is impossible to make authentic translation reflecting the context of language use, and also the possibility of flexible translation will be reduced. If diverse and sophisticated translation strategies for the vocabulary and grammar categories are systemized by using expert translations of literary works, it will be possible to improve the quality of Korean translations used in English learning materials and to develop a new type of English composition tasks.
