영문 초록

This study aimed to understand the perception of instructors and learners about synchronous online classes and to deduce implications for conducting effective online classes as they are becoming more common and long-term because of COVID-19. This paper presents the results of a survey conducted at the end of the Fall Semester 2020 at C University, which is located in Gyeonsangnam-do. A total of 39 instructors and 188 learners participated in this study. Findings revealed that instructors need to familiarize themselves with the system for conducting online classes. Additionally, the need for a system to facilitate communication between instructors and learners was identified. Further, it was found that instructors need to choose the class type according to the characteristics and objectives of their class. This study has limitations in that it was conducted only at one university. However, it revealed meaningful findings that could be used to improve synchronous online classes. In future, several studies on online classes are anticipated.
