영문 초록

This thesis aims to clarify the concept of “posthuman” and to explore the possibility of a posthuman discourse without recourse to the concept of humanism that was built on the foundation of traditional liberal arts. Posthumans can be classified as a new type of human species on the one hand and discourse itself on the other. The advancement of technology, including augmented technology, has enabled the emergence of new humanoids such as cyborgs, and this is expected to help overcome the weak physicality of humans and even endow humans with immortality. On the other hand, the formidable power resulting from technological advances, in collusion with capital and political power, gives rise to darker negative prospects for future humans. Posthuman discourse, especially critical posthuman discourse, exposes the tyranny of anthropocentrism and speciesism implicit in humanism and proposes a new way of observing human beings independent of humanism. Finally, this study regards posthuman discourse as a task that is given to humans, since, in order to survive they need to ask and themselves provide the answers with the help of posthuman discourse, and for this purpose, an unbiased observational posture and critical reflection are required.
