영문 초록

This study examines how the ethical relationship between humans and plants is expressed by comparing plant ethics in the poems of Toegye Lee Hwang(1502~1571) and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe(1749~1832). Scholars in the West have advocated for a plant view that applies natural sciencethe instrumental reason for classifying and analyzing plants. Subsequently, in the East, the perspective of plants was excluded by the transplantation of the West’s perspectives of plants. I will examine the causes and reasons for the plant perspectives that arose in the transition from pre-modern to modern, centering on plants in the East and West, and confirm the process in which Yi Hwang’s and Goethe’s are mediated with humanistic thinking. Plant ethics is a discipline that strives for the possibility of applied ethics, keeping in mind the possibility of ethical perception arising from the relationship between humans and plants. Both Lee Hwang’s “Maehwasicheop” and Goethe “Metamorphosis of Plants” express a poetic representation of plant ethics. Additionally, the ethical basis of plant ethics is classified into anthropocentrism, biocentrism, and holism. While productively accepting the discussion of plant ethics, the aspect of the personification of plants in Lee Hwang’s “Maehwasicheop” was reviewed from the perspective of the lifeism of disease and poison. In this study, I would like to examine the deification of plants in Goethe’s “Metamorphosis of Plants” from the perspective of the monolithicism of friendship and eros, that is, the subject suffering from a disease in the process of regards plum blossom as a personal object of Lee Hwang is plum blossom This study examined the aspect of recognizing the reverence of life, which is aware of subjectivity while communing with, while Goethe considered plants as objects of deification, grasping the process of plant transformation as an object of dignity, and based on this, the aspect of representing an ethical community was considered.
