성인 발달장애인의 미용관리 프로그램이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

지난 해 보건복지부에서 발표한 등록 장애인 현황을 살펴보면 발달장애인(지적, 자폐)은 2015년 6.9%에서 2018년 9.0% 조사되었다. 이에 생애주기별 발달장애인을 위한 다양한 교육·복지 프로그램이 운영되고 있다. 이들은 사회복지시설이나, 주간보호 센터 등을 통해 다양한 사회경험을 배우게 된다. 하지만 전체 성인발달장애인의 비율에 비해 부족한 시설과 미비한 프로그램들이 운영되고 있고, 자기관리 프로그램에서는 미용관리가 가장 높은 호응도를 받고 있음에도 불구하고, 성인 발달장애인에게 미용관리 프로그램이 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 충남 소재 A복지관의 주간보호시설에 다니고 있는 25∼55세의 성인 발달 장애인 20명을 대상으로 12주간 주 1회의 미용관리 프로그램을 운영하였다. 대상자는 남·여의 구분을 하지 않았으며, 발달장애의 구분은 하지 않았으나. 장애정도가 경증인 자를 선정하였다. 대상자들에게 미용관리프로그램이 삶에 질에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해서 1회기 프로그램이 진행되기 전 일반적인 문항, 미용관리실태 문항과 삶의 질 문항으로 구성 된 설문지를 배포하여 사전검사를 실시하였고, 12회기 프로그램이 종료된 이후 삶의 질 문항 설문지를 다시 배포하여 사후검사를 실시하였다. 12주간 미용관리 프로그램이 성인 발달장애인의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 검증하기 위하여 대응표본 t검정(Paired sample t-test)과 삶의 질 사전 사후 측정치에 대해 Wilcoxon의 부호순위검정으로 추가 비교분석 하였다. 삶의 질 전체의 사후 검사 평균은 3.52로 사전 검사 평균 2.74보다 통계적으로 유의하게 향상 되었다(t=-12.448, p<.001). Wilcoxon의 부호순위검정의 비교분석 결과 역시 대응표본 t검정과 동일한 결과를 보였다. 이로서 성인 발달장애인의 미용관리 프로그램이 삶의 질에 긍정적인 영향을 확인할 수 있었고, 향후 좀 더 체계화 된 미용관리 프로그램 개발에 촉매역활을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the percentage of registered adults with developmental disabilities increased from 6.9% in 2015 to 9.0% in 2018. Accordingly, a number of educational and welfare programs have been offered for different stages of life of these individuals. They engage in and acquire social experience through programs conducted by social welfare institutions or adult daycare centers. However, the number of facilities and programs offered are limited compared to the percentage of adults with developmental disabilities. In particular regarding self-management programs, even though beauty management programs have been well-received are popular, only a few studies have been conducted on the effects of beauty management programs on the quality of life of people with developmental disabilities. This study conducted a beauty management program once a week for twelve weeks with twenty adults with developmental disabilities at a welfare center. Gender was not distinguished and mostly only those with mild cases of developmental disabilities were selected. Before the first session of the beauty program, the participants were asked to complete surveys regarding general questions, beauty management conditions, and the quality of life; thus, thee effects of the beauty management programs on the quality of life of was assessed. After twelve sessions of the program, they completed another survey regarding the quality of life. To investigate the effects of the twelve weeks of beauty programs on the quality of life of people with developmental disabilities, a paired sample t-test and Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test on the pre-test and post-test of the quality of life were conducted. Post- test on the quality of life presented an average of 3.52, which is a meaningful increase compared to 2.74 in the pre-test (t=-12.448, p<.001). Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test also yielded the same results. Thus, it was established that the beauty program had a positive effects on the quality of life of adults with developmental disabilities. Expectedly, this research would lead to the development of more systemized beauty programs.
