국문 초록

본 연구는 대학 신입생이 수업 선택과 좋은 수업에 대해서 어떻게 인식하고 있는 지를 살펴보고자 한다. 대학 신입생들이 수업선택 시 고려하는 요인과 참고하는 정보에 대해 살펴보고 좋은 수업의 특징에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 2018년 12월 대학 신입생 300명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 수업 선택기준시 수업 시간과 비공식적 정보를 중요하게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 좋은 수업에 대한 요인 중 교수의 태도, 수업결과, 내용 전달이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학 신입생의 수업 선택 지원을 위한 충분한 정보 제공과 소통의 창구 마련이 필요하다. 둘째, 대학의 학사 운영을 유연화 하고 강의 모델의 다양화 노력이 필요하다. 셋째, 강의계획, 강의평가, 교육과정 등의 공식적 정보 전달을 확대해야 한다. 넷째, 학생들이 주로 이용하는 서비스나 채널을 대학이 적극 이용하여 정확한 정보를 전달해야 한다. 다섯째, 대학 신입생에게 좋은 수업의 사례를 적극 공유하고 알릴 필요가 있다. 여섯째, 교수는 학생들과 보다 친밀한 관계를 유지할 필요가 있다. 일곱째, 효과적인 수업 내용 전달을 위한 교원의 전문성 강화가 지속적으로 이루어져야 한다. 여덟째, 신입생을 위한 수업을 개설, 운영할 때 사회적 수요나 학생들의 요구를 적극 반영해야 한다. 마지막으로, 수업에서 이루어지는 학생 활동에 대한 교육과 안내가 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구는 대학 신입생이 어떤 기준과 정보를 토대로 수업을 선택하는지 파악하고 좋은 수업에 대한 인식을 살펴봄으로서 대학 신입생의 대학 적응과 대학 교육의 질적 발전을 모색할 수 있는 발판을 마련하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine how university freshman perceive the choice of classes and what constitute good classes. The study examined perceptions of factors considered by college freshmen, the information they refer to, and the characteristics of good classes. To do so, we surveyed 300 freshmen students from December 2018. The results showed that class time and informal information were recognized as important among class selection criteria. Further, the professor’s attitude, lesson results, and subject delivery were highly recognized as factors of a good class. Based on these findings, the implications are as follows. First, it is necessary to provide adequate information and communication channels to support freshmen’s class choices. Second, it is necessary to operate educational management flexibly and diversify the teaching model. Third, formal information delivery such as lecture plans, lecture evaluations, and curricula should be expanded. Fourth, to deliver accurate information, the university should actively employ the main services or channels used by students. Fifth, it is necessary to actively inform college freshmen by sharing examples of good classes. Sixth, professors should maintain closer relationships with their students. Seventh, professionalism should be continuously strengthened to facilitate effective delivery of class contents. Eighth, when opening and operating classes for first-year students, universities should actively reflect social demands and students’ needs. Finally, education and guidance on student activities in class should be provided. This study has implications for the setting of new standards for university students, based on the above-mentioned criteria and information looking at the perception of what constitute good classes.
