영문 초록

Since developing sophisticated art curricula to help construct students’ cultural identity continues to be a leading concern in the field of art education (Freedman, 2003), Taiwan’s art education scholars also proposed that helping students develop cultural identity is crucial to the objective of art education based on their studies (Yuan, 1996; Chen, 2005; Chen, 2000; Huang, 2002; Kuo & Chao, 2002). A visual culture approach to art education stresses the connection between students’ learning and daily experiences in order to enhance their own learning, understanding and appreciation of cultural meaning. Moreover, many art educators promote multicultural understanding through providing students with opportunities to exposure to diverse ethnic visual culture in classrooms.
