목적 연구의 목적은 2012-2023년 중등 STEAM 교육 관련 등재 및 등재후보 학술지에 게재된 논문에 대한 연구 동향을 분석하며, 이 결과를 바탕으로 향후 중등 STEAM 교육 연구 방향 관련 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 방법 한국교육학술정보원의 자료검색을 통해 중등 STEAM 교육 등재 및 등재후보 학술지에 게재된 논문을 체계적 방법으로 자료를 수집하였으며, 최종 분석대상 논문은 196편이었다. 분석 기준은 논문의 특성, 연구목적 및 요소, 연구 대상 및 방법이었으며, 문헌 분석연구의 방법으로 엑셀 프로그램을 활용하여 빈도분석을 실시하였다. 결과 첫째, 2012-2023년 중등 STEAM 교육 관련 등재 및 등재후보 학술지 196편에 대한 논문의 특성별 분석 결과, 연도별로는 2014년과 2015년(각각 24편), 2016년(22편), 2021년(19편) 등의 순으로 게재되었으며, 게재 학술지별로는 학습자중심교과교육연구 학술지(34편), 한국과학교육학회지(12편), 한국과학예술융합학회(10편) 등의 순이었다. 둘째, 연구목적별로는 개발 및 적용(52편), 개발(37편), 영향 및 효과(32편) 등의 순으로 게재되었으며, STEAM 요소별로는 STEAM(88편), A(예술)(31편), S(과학)(23편) 등의 순이었다. 셋째, 연구 대상별로는 문헌(81편), 학생(77편) 등의 순으로 게재되었으며, 연구 방법별로는 양적 연구(102편), 문헌 연구(80편) 등의 순이었다. 결론 연구 동향 분석 결과를 바탕으로 한 결론은 2014-2021년, 학습자중심교과교육연구 학술지, 개발 및 적용, STEAM, 문헌과 학생, 양적 연구 등이 주요한 연구 동향이었다. 향후 연구에서는 게재 학술지, 연구목적 및 STEAM 요소, 연구 대상 및 방법 등 연구범위의 확대 차원에서 다양한 연구 수행이 요구된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends in articles on secondary STEAM education published in indexed and candidate academic journals from 2012 to 2023 and to provide foundational data for guiding future research directions in secondary STEAM education. Methods Through data searches in the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) database, articles on secondary STEAM education published in indexed and candidate academic journals were systematically collected, resulting in a final sample of 196 papers. The analysis criteria included the characteristics of the articles, research objectives and elements, and research subjects and methods. Frequency analysis was conducted using Excel as part of a literature analysis study. Results First, an analysis of the characteristics of 196 papers on secondary STEAM education published in indexed and candidate academic journals from 2012 to 2023 revealed the following: by publication year, the highest numbers of articles were published in 2014 and 2015 (24 papers each), followed by 2016 (22 papers) and 2021 (19 papers). By journal, the Journal of Learner-Centered Curriculum and Instruction published the most articles (34 papers), followed by the Journal of the Korean Association for Science Education (12 papers) and the Korean Society of Science and Art Convergence (10 papers). Second, by research purpose, papers focused on development and application (52 papers), development (37 papers), and impact and effects (32 papers) were most common. Regarding STEAM elements, papers addressing general STEAM (88 papers) were the most prevalent, followed by A (Art, 31 papers) and S (Science, 23 papers). Third, by research subject, literature reviews (81 papers) and studies focusing on students (77 papers) were the most frequent. In terms of research methodology, quantitative studies (102 papers) and literature reviews (80 papers) were dominant. Conclusions Based on the results of the research trend analysis, the key research trends included the years 2014-2021, the Journal of Learner-Centered Curriculum and Instruction, studies focused on development and application, STEAM, literature and student-focused research, and quantitative research. Future studies should expand the scope of research by diversifying academic journals, research purposes, STEAM elements, research subjects, and methodologies.
