중국의 유아 다문화교육 연구동향 분석

국문 초록

다문화교육은 비주류의 다양한 민족에게 공평한 교육의 기회를 제공하여 이들을 주류사회로 편입시키는 것뿐 아니라, 모든 사회 구성원이 평등한 학습의 기회를 갖고 다양성을 이해하며 차이를 존중하는 태도를 함양하는 것에 목표를 두는 교육적인 노력이다. 이러한 다문화교육은 유아기부터 체계적으로 실행되어야 하며, 효과적 교육 실행을 위해서는 다문화교육을 지원하는 정책이나 관련 학술적 연구 등의 근거가 충분해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 아시아의 대표적인 다문화국가인 중국에서 이루어진 유아 다문화교육 연구의 동향을 살펴봄으로써, 유아 다문화교육 연구 및 관련 정책적 후속 과제를 제안하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 국가수준 유아교육과정에 해당하는 <유치원 교육 지도 요강>이 고시된 2001년부터 2023년까지 발표된 유아 다문화교육에 관한 연구 41편을 대상으로, 발표시기별 논문형식과 연구주제, 연구방법론과 연구대상의 동향을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 유아 다문화교육에 관한 연구의 발표량이 절대적으로 부족한 한편, 중국 교육부가 고시한 <3-6세 아동학습 및 발달지침>을 기점으로 2013년 한 해 동안 연구가 많이 발표된 것이 확인되어 정책과 학술적 관심 간의 상호영향력을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 연구주제가 다문화교육과정에 편중되어 있고 연구방법으로는 문헌연구에 편중되어 있는 것으로 나타나, 주제 및 방법론적 다양성 확대가 필요함을 강조하였다. 또한 연구 참여자로서의 유아가 주요 연구자로서 참여하는 연구나 유아교사의 다문화교육 역량에 관한 연구가 필요함을 제안하였다. 이를 바탕으로 유아 다문화교육의 필요성을 재차 강조하면서, 보다 폭넓은 주제와 방법론을 적용한 학술 연구가 확대되고 그와 연동하여 유아기 다문화교육 정책이 보다 적극적으로 수립 및 실행되어야 함을 주장하였다.

영문 초록

In this study, we aimed to propose follow-up tasks for early childhood multicultural education research by examining the trends in early childhood multicultural education research in China, one of the representative multicultural countries in Asia. We analyzed 41 studies on early childhood multicultural education published from 2001, when the , which corresponds to the national-level early childhood education curriculum, was promulgated, to 2023, regarding the publication time, paper format, research topics, research methodologies, and research targets. The analysis revealed a lack of absolute quantity in published research, yet there was a notable increase in research publications within one year in 2013, following the promulgation of the by the Chinese Ministry of Education, indicating a mutual influence between policy and academic interests. Furthermore, it was found that research topics are biased towards multicultural education programs and methodologies are predominantly literature-based, emphasizing the need to diversify topics and methodologies. Lastly, it was suggested that research is needed on early childhood participation as research subjects and on the multicultural education competence of early childhood educators. In conclusion, while reiterating the necessity of early childhood multicultural education to understand, respect, and communicate the characteristics and differences of diverse cultures, it was argued that academic research applying broader topics and methodologies should be expanded, and education policies should be established and implemented in coordination with academic research.
