인간소외와 구원에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

오학영은 실존철학을 반영하여 희곡작품을 창작한 대표적인 전후세대 극작가이다. 그의 1950년대 작품들에는 인간해방을 향한 실존적 갈등 상황에 놓인 인물이 등장한다. 「항의」(1959)는 문둥병자로 규정된 지영을 주인공으로 내세워, 실존과 인간해방에 관한 주제의식을 보여준다. 「항의」의 무대는 지영의 가옥이고, 정면에는 십자가가 놓여 있다. 주요 서사는 문둥병이라는 원죄로부터 소외된 인간존재가 분노하고, 살인하며, 신(神)을 부정하는 데 이르기까지의 항의 과정이다. 특히 무대의 시간은 부활전야와 같은 밤이라고 설정되었다. 종합하면, 이 작품은 타자의 시선을 통해 사회를 지배하는 메커니즘을 고발하며, 즉자화된 인간이 소외에 저항하여 스스로를 구원하려는 실존의식을 주제로 삼고 있다. 타자의 시선과 투쟁하며 스스로의 한계를 주체적으로 초월하고자 하는 구원의식은 인간존재의 교감을 통해 가능하다. 여전히 인간을 사회체제 내에 짜 맞추어 규격화하는 오늘날, 인간의 소외와 실존을 다룬 이 작품을 연구하는 일은 의미가 크다고 할 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

O Hak-yeong is a representative playwright of the post-war generation who created plays reflecting existential philosophy. In his works of the 1950s, there are characters in existential conflicts for human liberation. (1959) presents Ji-young, who was defined as a leper, as the main character, showing the theme of existence and human liberation. The stage of is Ji-yeong's house, and a cross is placed in front of it. The main event is the protest process from the original sin of leprosy to the alienated human beings getting angry, murdering, and denying God. In particular, the time of the stage was set to a night like Easter Eve. In summary, Humans who have been instantiated by the mechanism that governs society resist alienation and the existential consciousness to save oneself. Today which still standardizes human beings within the social system, It can be said that it is very meaningful to study works dealing with human alienation and existence. It is a sense of salvation that seeks to independently transcend one's own limitations while struggling with the gaze of others, and the core of existence is that this is possible through the solidarity of human beings.
