국문 초록

이 논문은 문화콘텐츠 분야와 고전문학 교육의 상호 협력적 관계를 모색하기 위해 융복합적 성격을 지닌 ‘밈(meme)’이라는 개념에 주목하였다. 밈은 총체적인 코드로서 급속도로 퍼져나가며 유행하는 문화 전달의 단위인데, 오늘날의 ‘인터넷 밈’이 지니는 복합양식적 성격 외에도 개성을 사회적 소통의 장으로 통합시킨다는 점, 과거의 산물도 오늘날의 시대 정신에 부합하면 생명력을 가진다는 점에서 융복합적 성격을 지닌다. 개인과 사회, 과거와 현재를 연결시키는 융복합성을 토대로 문화콘텐츠는 고전문학 교육을 한층 능동적인 소통의 장으로 만든다. 또한 밈은 문화콘텐츠 분야와 고전문학 교육이 공동으로 지닌 ‘원전에 대한 충실성’ 문제에 대해 하나의 답변을 내려준다. 고전문학 작품에 대한 충실한 이해를 목표로 하는 고전문학 교육과 시대 정신에 맞는 파격을 지향하는 문화콘텐츠 사이에 충돌의 여지가 있지만, 이미 존재하는 내용을 신선한 방식으로 상기시킴으로써 창조성을 발휘하는 밈을 참고하면 충실도와 자유도가 상충된다고 볼 수 없다. 전달의 충실함보다 환기의 충실함에 호소함으로써 밈은 고전문학을 더 자세히 알고 싶게 만드는 도움닫기로, 과거에서 ‘힙함’을 발견하는 동력으로 활용할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the concept of ‘meme’ in order to explore the cooperative relationship between the cultural contents field and classical literature education. A meme is a unit of cultural transmission that spreads rapidly and is fashionable as a total code. In addition, it has convergence characteristics in that integrates individuality to a place of social communication and has vitality regardless of time, aside from the multimodal characteristics of today s ‘Internet-meme’. Based on the convergence characteristics that connects the individual and society, the past and the present, cultural contents make classical literature education a more active forum for communication. In addition, memes provide an answer to the problem of ‘fidelity to the original source’ shared by the cultural contents field and classical literature education. Although there is room for conflict between classical literature education, which aims to provide a faithful understanding of classical literature, and cultural content that aims to be disruptive moving with the times, fidelity and freedom cannot be seen as conflicting because memes show creativity by reminding people of existing content in a fresh way. By appealing to the fidelity of evoking rather than fidelity of delivery, memes can be used as a driving force for discovering ‘hip’ in the past, as a help that makes people want to know more about classical literature.
