『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』의 비교 연구

국문 초록

본고의 목적은 한국의 심의린이 1926년에 출판한 『조선동화대집』과 독일의 그림 형제가 1812년에 발간한 『그림동화집』을 비교하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 첫째, 『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』이 출판되던 당시의 시대적 상황을 살폈다. 둘째, 『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』의 형식적인 면-이야기 편수, 편집 체재, 제목, 목차, 제보자 정보 등을 고찰했다. 셋째, 『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』의 내용적인 면-주제와 이야기 양상을 비교했다. 첫째, 시대적 상황을 비교한 결과, 『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』은 저자의 이력, 발간 상황, 발행 목적, 민족어로 된 최초의 동화집[설화집]이라는 관점에서 공통점을 보이고 있었다. 둘째, 형식적인 면을 비교한 결과, 『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』은 제목의 특성은 같았지만, 제목 유형의 강조점, 목차 구성의 강조점, 이야기 종결형, 운문 제시, 제보자 정보 등에서 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 내용적인 면을 비교한 결과, 『조선동화대집』의 주제는 ‘어리석음’과 ‘지혜’가 가장 많이 나타났고, 『그림동화집』의 주제는 ‘사랑’과 ‘행운’이 가장 많이 나타났다. 『조선동화대집』과 『그림동화집』의 이야기 구성 단계는 ‘결핍-결핍의 제거’ 또는 ‘과제-과제의 해결’이 공통적으로 나타났다. 주인공이 자신에게 부족한 무엇인가를 찾거나 해결하는 구성이었는데, 탐색담(探索談)의 특성을 보이고 있었다. 『조선동화대집』의 이야기 「개구리 신선」, 「사냥꾼의 소원」, 「똑같은 재주」는, 각각 『그림동화집』의 「개구리 왕자」, 「어부와 아내」, 「재주꾼 사 형제」와 인물, 사건, 주제가 아주 유사했다. 이는 『그림동화집』의 이야기가 『조선동화대집』으로 전파된 것으로 보았다. 『조선동화대집』의 「돌 두꺼비」와 「콩쥐 팥쥐」는 『그림동화집』의 「척척박사」와 「재투성이 아셴푸텔」과 핵심적인 사건과 주제가 서로 비슷했다. 이러한 핵심 사건과 주제의 일치는 전파에 의한 것일 수도 있고, 다원발생에 따른 것일 수도 있다고 보았다. 『조선동화대집』의 「착한 아우」, 「두 형의 회개」와 『그림동화집』의 「두 나그네」, 「배낭과 모자와 뿔피리」는 동일한 모티프가 나타난 이야기로 볼 수 있었다. 이는 이야기의 기원에서 다원발생설(多元發生說)의 예시로 삼을 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper was to compare the Great Book of Joseon Fairy published by Shim Eui-rin of Korea in 1926 with the Grimm’s Fairy Tales published by the German Grimm Brothers in 1812. First, as a result of comparing the situation of the times, the author's history, publication status, purpose of publication, and the first fairy tale collection in the national language were shown in common. Second, as a result of comparing the formal aspects, the characteristics of the title were the same, but there were differences in the emphasis on the title type, the emphasis on the composition of the table of contents, the end of the story, the presentation of verse, and the informant information. Third, as a result of comparing the content aspects, ‘dumbness’ and ‘wisdom’ were the most common subjects of the Great Book of Joseon Fairy Tales, and ‘love’ and ‘luck’ were the most common subjects of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales. In the story composition stage of the Great Book of Joseon Fairy Tales and the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, ‘deficiency-deficiency removal’ or ‘task-task solving’ appeared in common. It was a composition in which the main character found or solved something he lacked, and showed the characteristics of a quest tale. Among the stories of the Great Book of Joseon Fairy Tales and the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, there were works with very similar characters, events, and themes. This was considered that the story of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales was spread to the Great Book of Joseon Fairy Tales;diffusion theory. Among the stories of the Great Book of Joseon Fairy Tales and the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, there was a story with a similar theme to the core event. This may be due to diffusion theory or polygenesis theory. Among the stories of the Great Book of Joseon Fairy Tales and the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, there was a work with similar motifs. This was identified as the result of polygenesis theory.
