국문 초록

이 글은 식민지말기의 ‘하얼빈 기행 서사’에 대한 연구이다. 본고는 기존의 논의에서 크게 주목하지 않았던 기행문, 기사, 수필에 주목했고, 이 글들에서 하얼빈에 대해 기록한 부분을 ‘하얼빈 기행 서사’라 칭했다. ‘하얼빈 기행 서사’의 생성은 국내외적인 담론적 지평과 직접적으로 연관되어있었다. 식민지 조선에서 하얼빈의 부상은 식민지말기의 ‘만주 붐’과 관련되어 있었고, 만주국에서 하얼빈에 대한 주목은 일본의 북변진흥책(北邊振興策)과 관련되어있었다. 이렇게 생성된 ‘하얼빈 기행 서사’에서 중요하게 부각되었던 것은 ‘애수(哀愁)’라는 정서였고, ‘하얼빈의 애수’는 식민자와 피식민자의 교차되는 시선 속에서 형성되고 있었다. 그중에서도 특히 하얼빈의 백계러시아인에 대한 식민지 조선인의 연민의 시선, 그리고 하얼빈의 쇠락한 분위기가 중요하게 작용하고 있었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이처럼 ‘하얼빈의 애수’는 식민지말기의 하얼빈의 지정학과 긴밀하게 연관되어있었고, ‘애수’는 도시 하얼빈에 대한 중요한 표상임과 동시에 정치적인 은유이기도 했다.

영문 초록

In the field of literature, the study of ‘Harbin (哈爾濱)’ was mainly discussed focusing on Lee Hyo-seok’s writings. However, as you can see if you look closely, most of the articles related to Harbin were published mainly in the late colonial period. This study focused on travel writings and essays that had not received much attention in existing discussions, and the parts written about Harbin in these writings were called ‘Harbin travel narratives.’ First of all, this study argued that the creation of the ‘Harbin travel narrative’ is directly related to the background of discourse at home and abroad. In colonial Korea, attention to Harbin was related to the ‘Manchurian boom’ in the late colonial period, and in the context of Manchukuo, attention to Harbin was related to Japan’s ‘Northern Revitalization Plan’. Lastly, attention was paid to the emotion of ‘sorrow’, which is an important characteristic of the ‘Harbin Travel Narrative’. ‘Harbin’s sorrow’ was being formed in the intersecting perspectives of the colonizer and the colonized. It was confirmed that the colonial Koreans' sympathetic view toward the white Russians in Harbin played an important role. In this way, ‘Harbin’s sorrow’ was a manifestation of colonial geopolitics, and at the same time, it was also a symbol of colonial emotions.
