국문 초록

근대 예술은 ‘자율성’을 근간으로 삼으며 전개되어 왔고, ‘순수시’와 시론은 그러한 자율성 개념의 한 현실태로서 이해되었다. 한국의 근대 시사(詩史)에서 순수시론 성립에 유효한 예를 보여준 박용철의 시론은, 그처럼 근대성을 예시한다고 볼 수 있기에 중요한 이론적 논의에 해당한다. 박용철의 논리는 「시적 변용(變容)에 대해서」(1936)라는 글에 집약되어 있다. 그는 이를 통해 ‘순수시’라는 시적 타입을 설득력 있게 창안해 내고 보편화했다. 그러나 기존의 논의는 그 시론의 구조와 계보, 그리고 의의 등 문제의식에 값하는 많은 결과를 산출했음에도 불구하고, 그의 시론이 어떤 기제로 구성되었고, 또 특히 어떻게 ‘순수시’라는 개념에 논리적인 설득력을 확보하여 보편 미학으로 연결지을 수 있었는지 등은 명확하게 밝히지 못했다. 본고는 그 설득력이 다름 아닌 은유에 ‘의해’, 또 그것을 ‘통해’ 구성된다고 전제하고 그러한 질문에 답하려고 한다. 이러한 작업은 박용철의 시론을 이해하는 데 있어 깊이 있는 또 다른 시각을 제공할 뿐만 아니라, 그의 시론을 포함해 그간 ‘순수’라는 이름으로 규정되어 온 여러 시적 논의들의 면모를 파악하고 견줄 기회를 제공할 것으로 생각한다.

영문 초록

Modern art has been developed with ‘autonomy’ as the basis, and ‘pure poetry’ and poetry were understood as a reality of such a concept of autonomy. Park Yong-cheol's poetry, which showed a valid example for the establishment of pure poetry in the modern history of Korean poetry, is an important theoretical discussion because it can be seen as an example of modernity. Park Yong-cheol's logic is concentrated in the article ｢On Poetic Transformation(變容)｣(1936). Through this, he convincingly created and generalized the poetic type of ‘pure poetry’. However, despite the existing discussions producing many results worthwhile for problem consciousness, such as the structure, genealogy, and significance of the poetry theory, it has not been clear what mechanism his poetry is composed of, and in particular, how he was able to connect it to universal aesthetics by securing logical persuasive power to the concept of ‘pure poetry’. This paper attempts to answer such questions on the premise that its persuasive power consists of ‘understanding’ and ‘understanding’ of the metaphor. I think this work will not only provide a depth and another perspective in understanding Park Yong-cheol's poetry, but also give an opportunity to gauge the aspects of poetic discussions that have been defined under the name of ‘pure’.
