초등학생의 사교육이 또래관계 및 학업 스트레스에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

목적 요즘 초등학생들은 또래와의 놀이와 교제의 즐거움을 알고 실생활에서의 다양한 경험과 앎, 보편적인 기본생활 습관 형성이 이루어지는 시기에 과도한 경쟁과 입시 불안 등으로 이러한 삶과는 먼 생활을 하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 사교육이 초등학생들의 또래관계와 학업 스트레스에 미치는 영향을 파악함으로써 초등학령기 아동의 건전한 사회⋅심리적 성장과 발달을 촉진하도록 돕는데 있다. 방법 사교육이 또래관계 및 학업 스트레스에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 2022년 12월 10일부터 2023년 1월 3일까지 서울, 세종, 충북에 소재한 9개 초등학교 11학급 남녀 학생 222명을 대상으로 또래관계 및 학업 스트레스에 관한 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 이 중 1과목 이상 사교육을 받고 있는 약 96.4%의 초등학생 214명의 자료분석은 SPSS 18.0 통계 프로그램을 활용하였다. 결과 회귀계수의 유의성 검증결과, 사교육이 초등학생의 또래관계에 대한 영향은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났으나, 학업 스트레스에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 상관관계 분석 결과에서 사교육 계속여부에 대하여서는 또래관계 하위변인인 정서적 갈등과 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있으며, 사교육과 학업 스트레스 하위변인인 심리적 부담감, 시험⋅성적 스트레스, 부모와의 갈등, 학교생활 문제 모두 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구에서는 인터넷 및 통신강의 수강 비율이 높은 학생들은 시험⋅성적 스트레스와 부모와의 갈등과는 부적 상관관계가 나타났다. 디지털 환경에 익숙한 초등학생들이 또래나 부모님과의 갈등을 겪지 않고 자신의 수준에 맞게 스스로 정보기기를 활용할 수 있다. 인터넷 온라인 학습 상황에서는 학습자 자신이 주도한 만큼 또래관계에서 겪는 경쟁이나 정서적 갈등을 줄일 수 있으며, 학업 스트레스도 덜 받거나 영향을 미치지 않는다는 점은 미래 사교육에 시사하는 바가 크다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to help promote the sound social and psychological growth and development of elementary school children by identifying the effects of private tutoring on peer relationships and academic stress in elementary school students. Methods To investigate the effect of private tutoring on peer relationships and academic stress, 222 male and female students in the 11class of 9 elementary schools located in Seoul, Sejong, and Chungbuk were surveyed from December 10, 2022 to January 3, 2023. A survey on relationships and academic stress was conducted, and data analysis of 214 elementary school students (96.4%) who received private tutoring for at least one subject was conducted using the SPSS 18.0 statistical program. Results As a result of the significance test of the regression coefficient, private tutoring did not have a significant effect on elementary school students' peer relationships, but it was found to have a significant effect on academic stress. In particular, in the results of the correlation analysis, whether or not to continue private tutoring was found to have a significant positive correlation with emotional conflict, a sub variable of private tutoring and academic stress, psychological burden and achievement stress, conflict with parents, school life problems were found to have a significant positive correlation. Conclusions In this study, students with a high percentage of internet and correspondence courses showed a negative correlation between test grade stress and conflicts with parents. Elementary school students who are accustomed to the digital environment can use information devices on their own according to their level without experiencing conflicts with their peers or parents. However, the fact that students receive less or have no impact on learning stress has great implications for private education in the future.
