캡스톤 디자인을 활용한 박사 유학생의 학술논문 수업 설계 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 박사 유학생이 낯선 장르인 학술논문을 써야만 하는 상황 맥락을 고려해서 학술논문 수업을 설계했다. 수업을 설계하면서 이론과 실습이 복합적으로 고려되는 캡스톤 디자인을 반영했다. 다만 박사 유학생의 낮은 학술적 리터러시 상황을 고려해서 수업을 담당하는 강사, 논문 주제가 같은 팀 동료, 같은 논문 주제로 박사학위를 받은 선배 동료 등과 협력 활동이 발생하도록 했다. 특히 같은 논문 주제로 박사 학위를 받고 학계에서 활동하는 선배 동료가 미니 강의를 팀별로 진행하도록해서 학술논문 완성에 실질적인 도움을 주도록 했다. 이 수업을 통해서 박사 유학생은 학술논문의 장르 인식을 갖고, 팀 동료들과 협력적 글쓰기로 학술논문을 완성한다. 박사 유학생은 이와 같은 학술논문의 경험을 확장해서 학위논문을 계획하고 쓸 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 학술논문 수업은 높은 한국어 수준에도 불구하고 학술논문을 낯설어하는 박사 유학생의 학습자 개별성을 고려해서 이론과 실습이 종합된 캡스톤 디자인으로 설계되었다. 이 학술논문 수업은 박사 유학생이 학술논문을 성공적으로 완성하고, 내재화된 학술논문 완성 경험을 통해 학위논문의 성공적인 완성에도 도움을 줄 것이다.

영문 초록

In this study, a journal article instruction was designed, in view of contexts of situations to write a journal article, which is a strange genre to foreign doctoral students. The instructional design was based on capstone design, which considers theory and practice complexly. But in the light of foreign doctoral students’ low level of academic literacy, teem peers with the same instructor and the same thesis topic, and collaborative activities with senior colleagues, who obtained a doctorate with the same thesis topic were applied. Especially, senior colleagues that got a doctorate with the same thesis topic and works in the academic world were asked to give ‘mini-lectures’ in each team to provide practical help in completing journal articles. This instruction aims to enhance foreign doctoral students’ understanding of journal articles and complete real journal articles. Also, foreign doctoral students can get qualification to write theses and above all, it is possible to expand journal articles when writing theses. The journal article instruction suggested in this study has significance, given that this is based on capstone design, which integrates theory and practice, in the light of ‘individuality of learners’ of foreign doctoral students, who are unfamiliar with journal articles, despite their high Korean language skills. It is anticipated that this instructional design would be helpful for foreign doctoral students to complete journal articles and theses successfully.
