국문 초록

이 연구는 외국어로서의 한국어 학습자의 읽기 과정에서의 불안을 측정하고, 학습자 변인에 따른 불안의 양상을 통계적으로 분석하여 교육적 함의를 도출하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2019년 3월부터 4월 초까지 외국어읽기불안척도(FLRAS)를 활용하여 설문 조사를 실시하고, 최종 186명의 자료를 SPSS로 분석하였다. 그 결과 학습자의 국적 변인에 따라 ‘텍스트 관련 불안’, ‘주제 및 기억 관련 불안’이 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 학습자의 수준 변인에 따라 ‘주제 및 기억 관련 불안’의 차이가 유의미하였고, 이는 초급이나 고급에 비해 중급 수준 학습자의 불안도가 두드러지게 높았다. 학습자의 읽기 효능감 및 흥미 변인에 따라 ‘자신감 및 흥미 관련 불안’, ‘인식 및 상황 관련 불안’에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였으며, 읽기 불 안과 부적 상관관계를 나타냈다. 그간 한국어 읽기 교육에서 정의적 영역에 대한 논의가 부족하였고, 읽기 불안과 관련하여 초, 중, 고급 수준 학습자 전체를 대상으로 하위 요인을 탐색하고 다양한 학습자 변인에 따른 양상 차이를 통계 분석한 연구가 거의 없었으므로, 본 연구의 결과는 한국어 교육 현장에서 학습자의 읽기 불안에 대한 기초적 실증 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

study aims to investigate the causes of reading anxiety that may be incurred in Korean language learning and to analyze the differences between each aspect thereby proposing meaningful implications in Korean reading education. In order to meet the objectives, this study implemented the survey responses of 186 people who had learned the Korean language from March to April 10th, 2019 with FLRAS. The results of the survey were statistically analyzed utilizing SPSS, and the results are as below: The responses represent two significant causes of reading anxiety: text-related anxiety, and anxiety related to the author’s intention and memorization. Furthermore, the study found a significant difference between anxiety related to the author’s intention and memorization depending on the level of reading ability. Korean language learners at an intermediate level showed a higher level of anxiety as compared to the learners at beginner and advanced levels. Finally, the reading efficacy and interest of the Korean language learners showed a significant difference in two causes: anxiety related to self-confidence, and anxiety related to symbols and reading activities. The group with low self-confidence and interest showed a high level of reading anxiety. As it is true that there have not been many types of research or studies that deal with the causes of Korean language reading anxiety covering all levels of Korean language learning with different variables and statistical analysis, this study expects that the results and implications of this research to play a key role as practical material concerning different aspects of Korean reading anxiety in the Korean reading education field.
